The hardcore vs. casual debate comes up pretty much daily whenever video games are the topic of discussion, and today was no different. But what made today special was that reader lowkevmic absolutely nailed why a certain section of self-described “core gamers” need to reassess how they portray themselves:
People kill me with this core/serious gamer nonsense. If you guys are such core gamers, then you should be open to play anything that's fun. That's what a real gamer is. Just because all you play is Modern Warfare, God of War, Halo, or any other mainstream blockbuster game, that doesn't make you a core gamer. In fact if all you play is one particular genre, only one console, and unwilling to try new things that you really know nothing about. Then wouldn't that make you a casual gamer?
