There can be only one King of Kong. Colorful hot sauce mogul and old-school gaming legend Billy Mitchell was officially given the world record for the original arcade version of Donkey Kong, with a score of 1,062,800 points. He then went on to take the Donkey Kong Jr. prize with a score of 1,270,900.
Never one to resist a flourish, in both games, Mitchell reportedly stopped playing and allowed his character to die after he beat the current high score, explaining it thusly: “Some say I’m being cocky. Some say I’m being lazy. I say, I’m being Billy Mitchell." (Have you ever noticed how only AWESOME people refer to themselves in the third person? Stephen Johnson has.)
Of the DK victory, Mitchell said, “I remember a lot of celebration; hugs, kisses and a lot of hooting and hollering. Once that died down, stood there looking at Donkey Kong Jr. and thought ‘there’s one more thing I have to take care of’."
It's one thing to be good at a video game, but another to have developed mental and physical systems of being achieving amazingness. Billy Mitchell has done that. The guy is a total douche, but I do give him SOME credit. The King of Kong movie made him out to be a villain, which he certainly is...but it did completely lie about a few things...like when Billy goes to his restaraunt. He DID go in, and I believe he even met Steve Wiebe there. Also, when Billy shows up with his wife at the arcade when Steve is playing....he did have an interaction with Steve which was cut. So he didn't COMPLETELY try to avoid Steve Wiebe...but in the movie it looked like he did. Now, what happened in those interactions is anyone's guess...but in the movie they did edit around some of the things that happened to villainize him more.

Well looking back I remember when Wiebe tried to call Billy. Being the "good" sport he is, Billy never answered and I feel he dealt with that whole situation immaturely. So is Billy Mitchel a douche? I'd say yes, and it doesn't take rocket surgery to figure out why. Wiebe FTW!

I love how everyone calls this jackhole a douche haha, Wiebe will make a comeback. I also hate the fact that when Wiebe tried to call Billy to make amends(being the good sport he is), Mitchel didn't bother to answer, so is Billy a douche? damn straight he is. It doesn't take rocket surgery to figure that out.
