The first details on the sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum were revealed this morning. First off, the game will be called Batman: Arkham City, and it will launch on the PS3, PC and 360 in Fall 2011.
As for the story, not many details were revealed, but we know that it takes place in a heavily armed Arkham City, where your favorite Batman villains and thugs are running rampant. Arkham City is apparently a walled-off portion of Gotham City itself, and we can expect a new cast of classic characters and villains as well as new and enhanced gameplay features.
So far, confirmed villains for the game include Mr. Freeze, Catwoman, and that ultimate Batman baddy, The Joker.
The only negative in this story is the wait time. As a huge fan of Arkham Asylum, I don't know if I'll be able to handle waiting around for more than a year, but I guess quality takes time, and the long lead-time indicates that this game is likely to be the antithesis of shovelware.

WOOT!!! I would Love to see a multiplayer mode along side the multiplayer leaderboards... speaking of which, ima try to get back to my top 80th spot on the scarecrow map :D :D :D

i just bought this game a second time and am playing through it. was literaly on line last night looking for news about the second one and now i get home and its here. dc universe better be good enough to hold me over till this one.

Heros - i really hope that Robin or even Nightwing gets an appearance, sadly they probably wont have Red Robin considering Bruce is alive. Maybe do a flashback to when batgirl was batgirl and not oracle.
Villians - they should really have Riddler in this one. True he was in Arkham Asylum, but you never really saw him even if you solved all the riddles. Maybe his sections can replace the Scarecrow levels.

I got to thinking about this game last night actually and then i threw in the first one just to play around with the freeflow combat because i love this combat system..... i ended up beating the game in one sitting... I can't wait for the next one. Hopefully they don't change the mechanics of the hand to hand, maybe style i up a little more but please don't veer away from freeflow.

hmmm not to sure if im liking the name to much but who cares, arkham asylum was my favorite game last year and im hoping this will just as good IF NOT BETTER!

IGN reports that Talia al Ghul is in, and voiced by Stana Katic. Maybe we can bug her twitter for more details @stana_katic. For a game of this scale, I wouldn't be surprised if it's delayed. Did they start working on Arkham City RIGHT after AA was released!?!

@ Mako - Actually, Arkham City is kind of appropriate considering the teaser trailer from a few months back when the remaining inmates were running around Gotham. Anyway, Fall 2011 is a bit of a long wait but if it can live up to the first game's caliber, it may be worth it.
