No Move, Kinect Support For Fight Night: Champion

EA Announces Fight Night Champion

Fight Night Champion is coming out on the Playstation 3 and the 360, so you might think the game would feature support for the Move or Kinect. Boxing seems the perfect fit for the motion control systems, right? Wrong.

According to EA  producer Brian Hayes, gamers are just too out-of-shape to handle realistic boxing action. "It's a little bit too twitch-based, not to mention the fact that standing on your feet for three minutes and throwing punches is something that, believe it or not, might be beyond the fitness level of most gamers." Hayes said.

Sometimes, The Truth hurts -- Hayes is probably right. If you stand up and start swinging right now, you'll probably only last about 45 seconds, let's be honest.

But enough about fitness. Hayes isn't saying "never" about the combination of Fight Night and motion control “It’s definitely something that’s on the table in terms of exploration for us, but Fight Night Champion is not being developed for Move or for Microsoft Kinect,” he said.

I've always wanted to have a boxing game, and the wii's accuracy is so bad that it could never deliver, this could have been one of the must have games for the new motion controllers.

    Good fail guys, good fail.

If i was playing with my PS Move and getting tired doing so, then i just grab my controller and sit down and play.. If I want to play using my PS Move then i would be standing up playing for a while..I understand, what they are trying to say.. But its really up too US too play while standing up or not.. I really wish they have PS Move support, I hope they make some type of a fighting game that can support PS Move and kincet for those people that have 360.. My buddy is not really into boxing game, and once he got his PS Move, he was hoping that Fight Night Champion would have PS Move support. He really enjoy playing The Fight: Lights out game.. Once i show him this link, now he dont want to get the game..Yes i know its a stupid reason why not too get the game, but I can understand why.. I believe if they did have this game supporting PS Move and Kinect, they would sell a lot more and make that $$$ for their company

I understand that EA does not want to make a game so difficult for the user that it would not be as fun.
I have played the Move game 'sports champions' and i admit that even for myself (a fit individual) it can be exhausting after a short explosive work out. But; and this is a huge BUT, not making a game compatible for the Move, or Kinect is lazy, yes EA you are the lazy ones( not your fat costumers). Why can't the game be compatible for both the standard controllers and the motion interactive controls?
This concept was executed well on other EA games like 'Tiger Woods 11'. So in closing, I plead with EA, Give your costumers the option to decide if the game is beyond their fitness level.

This is just a BIG Excuse for the likes of EA, why not have both options, Problem solved, I certainly would sue the move options, after all you can limit the amount of rounds, I will not be buying Fight Night Champion's without Move enabled, and I will wait until one is out

Well for the move they have The Fight:Lights Out. It looks better then any boxing or fighting game I've ever seen. Fight night has always been iffy with me. UFC needs move support.

I bet if either or both, move or kinect become a success, you will suddenly hear an announcement about a patch that adds support for either or both devices later.

Here's the problem. I don't know about Kinect, but Sony has said that there's enough space on a blu-ray to package both the Move and non-Move versions of a game onto a single disc. That way, instead of insulting your entire customer base (whether it's true or not), you can give them the option of at least trying to play off the couch. If it is indeed "beyond the fitness level" of whoever is playing it, no worries, because they can switch over to normal play. Just saying, especially with that Move fighting game coming out, there is literally no reason for Fight Night not to get involved.

Wii fit was a pretty large success, as in one of the biggest ever. Why couldnt they bill this as a boxing game and fitness tool. They would probably make alot more money than just a sports game with a sport no one cares about anymore. Saying essentially gamers are too pathetic to stay active for a bout is a dumb move. If move or kinect dont really offer 1 to 1 and it would be broken, say that. Or your afraid of overweight people sueing after going into heart dailure, say that. Dumb Ea, Dumb.

Hey if I can stand up doing punch motions in wii boxing (and I mean real punches) for more than 30 minutes I think I can handle your boxing game with kinect/move support.
I mean your acting as if your doing real boxing, I mean honestly your just punching air it doesn't take that much energy. And even if some people at first have trouble you have to keep in mind that they'll slowly build up endurance and get better as time progresses.
Either way this is a lame excuse and could easily be made to be optional to use kinect or move.

WOW. Ya know what EA, I would shut your pretentious, thieving (see the story right above this one), conglomerate mouth, before all the millions of gamers, including the ones who are not "hardcore" rise up off their crumb infested couches, (as your bold statements seem to imply), and beat you down using the tactics and skills they've learned from your own products. Oh wait, that's right, no one who's able to do that would have played Fight Night right? Because they're too lazy or out of shape... Ya know, because no one played Wii boxing or anything, and none of the fans of the Fight Night series have been waiting for a motion controlled version for the last 4 years, since Wii Sports came out. How bout this EA, I challenge you not to make your REHASH GAME into something even relatively original, but JUST to add what a) the consumer wants and b) the market is progressing towards, and then, once you've FINALLY done that, I GUARANTEE you, I'll play that game all day, every day, and then systematically challenge and defeat (in an utterly unceremonious BEAT DOWN of thoroughly embarrassing proportions) every single one of your development team AT YOUR OWN GAME.

    Sincerely,

    [av]

He's got a point. I'm 26 and at 120 lbs, I think its safe to say I'm a fit individual, but even I don't want to stand for a few minutes and punch at my TV. I'm just lazy.

By the way, I'm taking bets. How long before the first fat kid has a heart attack from using Kinect?

im a boxer for 7 years not professional boxing but just city and some times within the State of CT, and believe it or not 3 mins is a long time to stand and actually fight. I love watching boxing since i participate and i understand exactly what they go thru when they are in the ring. So to an extend i understand EA without proper training there is no way or much time you will be able to play this game. Just imagine going thru 12 rounds, having like 7 matches on one day for those who really play Fight Night. I know is insulting but look at this way my best friends are 180lbs 5'11 and when playing wii just tennis, 10mins in they are sweating and out of breath. Keep it controlled

they could have just said that move or Kinect functionality wasn't financially viable or that it wasn't something they believed could enhance gameplay, which would have been fine. But to come out and say ''all of you are fat and out of shape?''. Screw you EA.

I'm sorry but I have never actually seen a "gamer" who was any more out of shape then the average person. He should have said the average person could not handle realistic boxing standards. Even then I can not believe he is comparing punching with Move/Wii to realistic boxing. FYI There is a big difference in punching a 200lbs+bag/person and punching wind.
