StarCraft II

If you had any doubts about the success of Blizzard's Starcraft 2, allow me to assuage them: The game is doing really well -- 1.5 million people bought the sci-fi RTS in the first 48 hours after it launched.

“We launched StarCraft II in 11 different languages and on 5 different continents because we wanted to make sure as many players as possible were able to log on and play on day one,” said Blizzard boss Mike Morhaime in a statement. “We’re pleased that so many people around the world have already picked up a copy of the game, and we look forward to welcoming even more players to Battle.net in the weeks and months ahead.”

This means that Starcraft 2 is the fastest-selling RTS game ever, according to Blizzard. It also means that many people at Blizzard are having a very nice week at work.

I think to me this game is the best games of the summer! Because with StarCraft 2 being blizzards best seller I think that it's awesome! In my opinion I think it's better than the games I've been seeing in the market lately (which I also work at a retail store from a Kroeger brand company Fred Meyer)! I think this game is better than Red Dead Redemption, Lost Planet 2, Transformers War for Cybertron (which I am still disappointed with Revenge of the Fallen), Split Second, and crackdown 2. But I would highly recommend this game for fans of strategy games and computer gamers.

It makes sense, this game oozes quality. I'm enjoying the campaign, ran a few challenge missions and also fooled around with custom games online. Oh man I love custom games!

I am ashamed to say that not one of those 1.5 million copies is mine. Sure my POS laptop can run Starcraft 2 on the lowest settings, but I want the full SC2 experience. (+my laptop overheats all the time since I installed W7) =[

If they had branched it onto consoles that figure probably would have doubled?...dont get me wrong..console sales would have been no where as high but it sure helps the people who dont have the money to go out and own a decent enough computer because im to busy buying console games. -_-

Only 5 continents? Sorry, South Africa, home of hundreds of thousands of English speaking consumers. Not to mention the penguins.

I knew this game was going to do well, but 1.5 million in two days is amazing. Makes me wonder if Blizzard can keep up these numbers. With all the people "on the fence" about buying the game, I'm sure there will be a surge of sales once those people realized that it really is one of the most amazing games on the market right now (it is worth it for the awesome campaign alone).

My hat is off to you Blizzard, you did a good job!

I'm not surprised in the least. I mean, most of the population of South Korea is gonna buy the game. But still, good for Blizzard.

correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't saying its the best selling game since WotLK kind of redundant because WotLK was the last game released before SCII? I think.
