A small community of gamers in Kaneohe, Hawaii banded together briefly to defend their beloved Internet Cafe from a group of dumb-as-rocks hoods who tried to rob the place. And it was all caught on video (included after the jump).
It all went down on Wednesday of last week at Gamerz, when a couple of masked thugs entered the Hawaiian nerd hang-out. They came in yelling and throwing punches at cashier Devin Wolery, as well as gesturing as if they had guns. After cold-cocking the counterman a couple times, the miscreants turned toward the customers and demanded money. A few handed over some ducats, but when the ne'er-do-wells demanded customer Dylan Hays Nintendo DS, the shizz got real.
Instead of handing out his DS, Hays handed the thief a right cross to the jaw. A full-scale fracas broke out in the Internet Cafe, with the patrons rallying to protect their fellow gamers, pulling one robber's mask off, and chasing the thugs from the premises.
"I mean we're gamers, we've been immersed in that culture where like we all want to be Superman, you know we're missing something partial in our brain that says yeah this might be dangerous," said Hays."It's Devin's place but it's also ours, like this is where we come to hang out," he added.

What I find hilarious is the guys background is Medal of Honor Tier 1 with the badass bearded guy. That must be where they learned how to kick the shizzles out of those November Juliets (military term for, well you know I can't say it on here).

Did anyone follow up this article. At the end the reporter says that all three suspects were released. So did actually catch the guys who came in or what. for sure nerd power to the max.

I am really glad to see that story. I'm sure the criminals went in there thinking it was going to be a walk in the park. They probably thought all the patrons would start panicking and reaching for their inhalers, but in reality one man wasn't having any of their crap. It is a common link to the stereotype of overweight, glasses-wearing, hardcore gamer, that they are pushovers, but as we see today not everyone is going to curl up into the fetal position. Although it won't do much hopefully it will cause people to rethink their actions, before targeting our fellow nerds. (BTW I weigh 280lb, so I'm not calling anybody out.)
