Capcom confirmed today that PlayStation 3 owners eager to revisit Resident Evil 5 with Sony’s upcoming PlayStation Move motion controller will only be able to do so if they own a copy of Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition.
The RE5 developer explained on their European site that it is impossible to add Move support to the original RE5, because the game was “in development for several years before PlayStation Move even existed as a concept for Sony,” and that, “Short of building a time machine, going back in time and recoding the game so we can patch control schemes on it in the future there is nothing we can do.”
However, when the time rolled around to release RE5GE, Capcom was able to add in code “to allow prototype Move to work” with the game, which Capcom then demoed during Tokyo Game Show 2009. And because this temp code was installed, Capcom will release a patch on September 14 that will add Move capabilities to the game.
Capcom will also be re-releasing the gold edition but with Move support included on the disc. The new gold edition will release on September 15, the day Move goes on sale.
Anyone out there own the original RE5 and planning to pick up Move? Do you think you’d throw to pick up the Move-enabled version?

the game is dead to most people...

This is total BS, this could easily be fixed with a downloadable update that adds move controls to the original version of the game.

Oh great. This is why I hate any kind of GOTY edition for any game. Wtf is this I got the collectors Ed. for RE5, think it was $80 or $90 and only gold edition gets move support this is serious bull. On top if that people that got gold ed get dlc for FREE. They should have gotten the Mp Skins for free but made to buy the Mp mode. EFF YOU! capcom.

I won't be buying the PS-Wii. Nice try though Sony.

I first got Resident Evil 5 on the 360 when they released the Limited Edition Red Elite version. I got just about every achievement except for the DLC. I admit I am trophy whore. Because of that I went and bought RE5 Gold Edition for my PS3 just to get trophies...plus I loved the game lol.

Motion controls still wont make this game good.

This is really crappy that they wont patch RE5 non gold editions to work with this. Talk about not supporting your customers. This will NOT make me go and buy it

I'm confident Move will work great with this game. RE4 on the Wii was my favorite version, and Move can only improve on that.

This will work out for me since the version of RE5 that I bought was the Gold edition. looking forward to see how the new controls are implemented into the game.

hm, if I get move, I'll get this. Since I never bothered with RE5 yet anyway, I won't feel cheated.

I've never bought RE5. Don't really plan on doing so, either.

I might have tried move on RE5 if it worked with the original version, but i'm not going to drop more cash on a game i've already platted just to try it with a new control scheme.
Heavy Rain, on the other hand, should be pretty awesome with move. =)
