Your Tax Dollars At Work: Government, University Developing Anti-Sex Game

Sexy Mario

The federal government is spending approximately $434,000 to develop a video game aimed at helping pre-teen girls resist peer pressure to have sex. The avatar based game/social-simulator doesn't have a title yet, but it's being developed by The University of Central Florida and is expected to be complete by 2011.

The idea is to give you points for certain social skills in a virtual world populated by avatars, but you won't just be staring at a screen; you'll be wearing a full motion-capture suit to really put you in the skin of a pre-teen girl at a party or a malt shop or something. Then, boys will approach you and try to get the goods.

Professor Anne Norris of the University of Central Florida describes an interaction in the game like this: "A boy similar in age might approach the person playing the game and ask her to make out or there might be some sexual innuendo."

This will certainly be effective:  Once this game becomes wildly popular all over the world, pre-teen girls will finally have the skills they need to resist peer pressure and stop having sex... But what if it works too well? What if the anti-sex messages carry over into her later life, and grown women all over the world won't git down due to the insidious influence of anti-sex mo-cap suit gaming? Society will descend into chaos, just like in Children of Men, and within a single generation, all human life will be extinguished. Good job, University of Florida Professor Anne Norris, you've doomed all of humanity!

Also: Our government seriously spent nearly half a million bucks developing this dumb crap. I could have used that money to buy at least 45 hamburgers, or, if I wanted to promote abstinence, I could have used that money to develop my one-man show. It's geared at stopping teenagers from having sexy-times, and it mostly consists of a slide-show of the inside of Jake "Killer" Gaskill's mouth. I call it "The Canker-Story."

If they want to make a video game like this, fine, but don't use tax money.

they dont realize that the anti-sex ed isn't keeping kids from getting curious enough to try it out, it the lack of good sex ed or the sheltering kids from the idea of sex all together is what's making them so damn curious
not knowing=wanting to learn=trying it out
or you could just say its reverse psychology "dont touch that stove, it'll hurt"........"(will it really?/how bad?)........OUCH!!!!"

this is meant for pre-teens not teens already in urges its too late for them i for one will raise my kids and guide them every step of the way because really do you all want your kids to be "experienced" before they are of legal age?? i know i dont what happened to waiting til marriage? i dont see this game worth all the hype and as for a waste of money..so and so but ill give it a try just for my kids mainly the girls ill b responsible for them not losing there most prized possession in their whole life and i will certainly not be the main reason why my kids specially the girls for losing their virginity to a waste of time douchh cuz face it guys dont care as much as getn laid and when the day comes that noone is safe from bein de-virginized every person getn married will have disappointment.

I think were all overreacting here, its targeted at preteen girls, meaning 12 or under, that young of girls shouldn't be having sex under any circumstance. They should be teaching birth control, but I think abstinence based prevention measures are the way to go in that age. I'm all for sexual freedom, but my god the day I say its right that 12 year olds are screwing is the day I decide to get a vascectmy.

Sounds like the University of Florida went to 'get the goods'...

And the Feds put out. No level up for you, Government Treasury.

If this is on X-Box, this'll be the easiest way to get extra achievement points ever.

Stephen Johnson, I haven't met you in real life but I already can tell that you're a dick. After posting an article bashing Blair Herder trying to get rid of him and now slamming one of your co-workers in this article, I'm surprised you still have a job. Your lack of professionalism appalls me sir.

I know this will work because Leisure Suit Larry games have given me such confidence to hit on any woman out there. Oh wait no it didn't.

Also, seriously people let's not act like $500k is putting the US in debt. While it is alot of money to the average person $500k in the scope of the US economy is equivilent to a nickel and how many of us have tossed a nickel or even a quarter into a wishing fountain.

I agree the money could have been better spent but to say spend it on sex ed or anything equivilent is just as much a waste as this is.

Sexist, they want all the women to be abstinent but they don't care what the men do :P
Yeah, I am glad I have been buying off steam lately so my tax money won't go to this crap; see this is what should go to supreme court, stop the government from making horrible games.

What we need is a Playstation Move or a Wii game to teach teens how to use a condom. I think Nintendo would be the first to finish such a game since the Wii controllers already has a condom like sleeve for protection and the Japanese have more experience with awkward sexual encounters in games.

I think that the main problem with a game like this is that people who do play it will know that they are just expected to not have sex. Example scenario: Boy walks up to girl and says, "Hey, do you-", Girl says, "No." and wins the game.

This game is a waste of taxpayers money. If schools had better sex education programs, the idea of this dumb game would not exsist.
