The four principal cast members of BBC America's Being Human (Russell Tovey, Lenora Crichlow, Aidan Turner and Sinead Keenan), along with the show's creator and writer (Toby Whithouse) were the panelists in what turned into a Being Human pep rally as a room full of eager fans didn't hold back while showing their appreciation for the supernatural drama.
Despite this being a season two sneak preview--the premiere airs Saturday night--most of those in attendance have already watched the entire season ( piracy be damned!). But the season two teaser trailer garnered a huge ovation and gave some people (i.e., me) the chills. Each cast member discussed his or her character and what awaits them in the upcoming season, with the overwhelming trend being a decidedly darker turn and more in-depth exploration of their respective supernatural sides.
Whithouse said that when he was originally approached to develop a show centered on a group of friends sharing a flat and the ups and downs of their interpersonal relationships, his reaction was that it was the most boring thing he had ever heard. So his first thought was to turn George into a werewolf, which would at least make for an interesting first episode.
Perhaps the most revealing statement of the panel was made by Aidan Turner, who plays the vampire Mitchell. He admitted that, the blood tastes all right, actually. It's minty. Certainly a far cry from the trials and tribulations of everyday life featured in the original show pitch!
