In addition to announcing a new limited edition Halo: Reach Xbox 360 bundle Bungie revealed new details about Reach’s next iteration of its in-game editing toolset, Forge 2.0, some newly announced Firefight modes, armor abilities, and more during their Comic-Con 2010 panel.
Building on the already robust features of its Forge editor, Bungie has taken the toolset to a whole new level, and the result is Forge World, a massive interactive space comprised of five connected maps where up to eight players can build, create, and share maps using Forge’s robust and intuitive creation capabilities.
Bungie also revealed Reach’s Versus Firefight mode, in which teams of two players battle against each other as either Elites supported by Covenant AI or as Spartans. They also showed off Gruntpocalypse, which, as the name suggests, pits you against a never-ending onslaught of those adorable little bastards.
We’ll have a hands-on preview of the new modes and features for you shortly, so stay tuned.

Wow this new forge looked amazing, i cant wait for bungie to go multi-platform (have a PS3 not a fanboy cuz they are annoying) they are a really good studio i cant wait to see whats to come in the future definitely going to be playing my friends xboxes for this game

WOW i mean just WOW im a huge halo fan but i havent really been pumped for Reach untill just now this is amazing it is probably gonna be the Best game of its kind for several years to come. EPIC

Considering this is the "last" Halo game, the forge makes it great so they don't have to worry about doing a bunch of dlc with new maps, the community will have more then enough tools to do it themselves for years to come.

No offense to anybody who loves Halo or anything but after watching this video...I'm not that impressed with Forge World. I find it odd that Bungie gives you the landmasses and asks that players just put things on top of or through them. That's kind of restrictive for a creation tool. During the video the player was moving some tiles together over a stream and the controls seem clunky, cumbersome even. Also, why does the game look so dated graphically? I'm normally not the type of guy to bring up graphics when talking about video games, but the objects, textures, and the overall environment in Forge World simply looks aged. Maybe I'm bitter, perhaps I'm a snob--who knows--but for all the hype this game has received, it doesn't look THAT spectacular so far.
Please, everyone, don't berate me with replies screaming "fanboy!" or "big ole d-bag" because I'm only sharing my opinion.

Bungie said that they wanted to go out with a bang. After seeing this, it looks like the bang they are planning is more along the lines of a nuclear explosion.

Make room multi-player, World Building is going to be the next 'must-have' feature of top tier games that will be keeping gamers playing long after they beat the campaign and bore of standard multi-player matches.
My son and i have spent an ungodly amount of time building tracks in Mod Nation Racers, and he has done a ton of stuff with the Halo3 forge. i can already see that this is going to be a huge time sink for us come Septemeber...
