Ten years after the release of the cult hit American McGee’s Alice, Electronic Arts will plunge players back into Wonderland via the newly announced Alice: Madness Returns.
The long-awaited sequel picks up 10 years after the previous game with Alice having just been released from an insane asylum and journeying to uncover the mystery behind her family’s death. The game jumps between “gloomy and stark London” and the “rich and provocative Wonderland,” and, as McGee explained in a statement to the press, “takes this colorful world and reinvents it with psychotic personalities and pervasive insanity.”
I was a huge fan of the original Alice, so I can’t wait to see what Spicy Horse does with the sequel. Sadly, we’ll have to wait until sometime in 2011 when the game hits PC, PlayStation, and Xbox 360 to once again journey down the rabbit hole.
In the meantime, check out some killer screenshots in our photo gallery or check out the teaser trailer below.
