Microsoft today announced that its motion-controlled Kinect will retail for $149.99, and will include a copy of Kinect Adventures. Microsoft also revealed release and pricing details for a new 4GB Xbox 360 SKU, as well as a Kinect console bundle.
The new 360 goes on sale August 3 for $199.99, but it will also be part of a Kinect bundle that includes a shiny new console, Kinect, and Kinect Adventures all for $299.99. Microsoft didn’t specify when the Kinect bundle will be released, but seeing as Kinect doesn’t release until November 4, I’d say that would be a good guess. Also, if you pre-order the Kinect bundle, you’ll snag a download token for three exclusive levels for Kinect Adventures.
Microsoft also announced that there will be over 15 Kinect titles available at launch. While we still don’t know all of the games just yet, Microsoft has confirmed that first-party Kinect games will cost $49.99. This also means that Microsoft could offer Kinect by itself for $100 for those gamers who are more interested in the technology of Kinect at launch as opposed to the games, but, sadly, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.

I find it mind-boggling that people would buy products based on features they hope would be worth the value, or games they would hope get released.
Voice Recognition? Really? Are you really going to pay $150 for an alternative to pressing the "A" button? As of right now, there are zero games for the peripheral that make the purchase worth it, especially considering you can do them on much cheaper platforms with many more titles behind them.

I will buy kinect for the voice recognition alone. Now when people walk in and Im yelling at my xbox I can say Im using kinect instead of them thinking I have anger control issues. Who knows maybe eventually they will have some good games for it. If not its only $150 which honestly isnt that much. I have spent that much on a pair of shoes or a watch or 50 other things that just sit in my closet getting no use at all. I play games everyday so atleast kinect will get some use even if its only to turn my xbox or navigate some menus.

Hmm, I still don't own a 360, but if the so the $300 dollar bundle with connect and the newer console does sound promising. Especially since the consoles design now familiarizes more with my phat ps3. However, the 4gb HDD has me left undecided. Unless they throw in some serious cloud computing for data/media you use on the console idk. Also, I need to know kinect is not gonna go ridiculously casual. Because ATM Move is right in my price range since i already got a PS EYE and the games for it look they are more hardcore and are going to get more hardcore. idk i leave for college soon and money will be tight. Considering I already got the whole equipped ps3 ill stick with that and find some local dorm kids to play kinect with.

And just to confirm, the new 4 gig 360 is replacing the 360 Arcade version. The 4 gigs refers to a internal flash drive in the new 360. To compare again, the 360 Arcade only had a 250 megabyte built in memory. And the new 4 gig 360 is prices at the same price as the Arcade was before the new 360 models where announced. So in reality this is the new Arcade 360 with a bigger flash drive, and built in wifi for the same price. So stop bitching.

If u actually got your hands on kinect you will enjoy it i didn't have much hope but i played it at maceys today at the mall and its 100 percent accurate with your body moments and voice commands. i play kinectanimals and had a blast fooling round with the thing its gay but at the same time very amazing how the tech work i might say. i played kinect sports bowling and racing i mean after like 2 minutes you clear your mind and it felt right after playing for a while looking at this big ass flat screen i felt like i was at the bowling alley and running in place got very competitive going against a guy who was 50 pounds lighter den me lol. i even played kinect adventures its all little kiddy games to steal nintendo fans but there enjoyable enough to play and want to show off to everybody u know i tell u that. i'm telling u i have a wii and the kinect software whats built in the actually thing is powerful i mean the camera locks on to u and follow u in the room so u can walk far back and the cam zooms out to keep u in the image. u can even sit down and play all the games and be lazy it picks up other source of body movements. it was a built in like body heat cam so u can even play in the dark no lighted up rooms necessary. it feels right im teelling u dont knock it till u try it out. u cant even compare it to the wii i mean theres a paintball shooter first person!!!! and u an run or walk in place and the camera picks up your head movement to track your path of where u want a go like if you walk in place and looking straight u walk straight but slightly turning your head like in real life looking a Little left or right you start following the path as if your head movement was the left analog stick its amazing and feels right. 150 is a lot but its worth every penny but maybe not now i know people want the good stuff first and early but the Microsoft tech guy managing the demo show room area said u got rare, ubisoft, ea, Microsoft game studio, epic, valve and ect working on hardcore tittles like he was saying ubisoft got a game where your a cop and your chasing people and kicking open doors telling people to get on the ground, police training camp, shooting people, questioning people and exploring crime scenes. 2k working on a first person shooter like bio shock where you use your left hand for powers and right hand for big crazy gun and u walk in p[lace and the head tracking system to move in diagonals and online its gonna be amazing give it time im getting it already dropped 300 for the pre order bundle console connect and game yes 4 gig for a hard drive sucks but this is upgradeable and apparently i was told the new make and model allows u to use your own computers like 1 terabyte hard drive for the new make and model xbox but limited to only 150 gigs rather den 16 like the old xbox console make and model. or buy a bigger hard drive for some crazy loot probably. nov 4th ill be playing Kniect. i mean its really the future besides games using it to play movies scroll thru the dash board and music and media and chating its just not the future of gaming but soon hospitals and police and business will be using this technology as well i mean no longer will u have to go to the doctors and fill out paper work of who u are it will just scan your body you tell them whats bother u then the doctors calls u in. computers will be just waving your hands saying a website saying search saying buy this saying go back holding your hands on icons like kinect to click on it government already got this probably its crazy

@mrelie: Yes all the new 360s comes with removable hard drives. So its not to much of a stretch that MS will start selling hard drives for the new 360 just like the old one.
And to those of you who are whining and crying about the new 4 gig 360, the old arcade 360 only came with a 250 MEGABITE storage capability. And it didn t have wifi built in.

Are you sony fan boys mental the tech in the kinetic is decades ahead of the wii and eye toy i would say move but the move is the wii but gayer (happy jk) the eye toy only was a camra it didnt use your body as a controller it only showed what you were doing like a video nothing else the kinetc is far more advanced it actually scans in your body and tracks your movements you would know that if you werent so busy watching the nintendo conference i mean sony conference

If Kinect bombs, which in all likiness will, expect to see the "Xbox 720" or whatever the next console is, alot sooner. E3 in two years will be my best bet where it will be unveiled. the point of these motion control stuff is to extend the product lifecycle, right? So if it fails, they might as well ditch and go on to the next generation of consoles

The system/kinects bundle needs to be $249.99.
The bundled games must be FUN for MS to succeed. They must not drop the ball with this. Make it fun and when people go to early Christmas parties and try the system out they will want one for them and their kids.
Same goes for Move, but for sony it's even easier. Just make a HD Wii Sports with a bit more depth, just a bit, and it"s an instant homerun! But I fear sony will drop the ball by making their bundle $349 or even more or not including a game.
Either way it will be fun not only watching the companies battle it out, but watching the fanboys exaggrate (sp) the truth, down play the negatives, and just out right lie. Even the company paid internet trolls will be out in full force slamming the competition.
This will indeed be a fun end of the year.
