Microsoft Kinect Priced, New Bundle And 360 SKU Announced

Microsoft today announced that its motion-controlled Kinect will retail for $149.99, and will include a copy of Kinect Adventures. Microsoft also revealed release and pricing details for a new 4GB Xbox 360 SKU, as well as a Kinect console bundle.

The new 360 goes on sale August 3 for $199.99, but it will also be part of a Kinect bundle that includes a shiny new console, Kinect, and Kinect Adventures all for $299.99. Microsoft didn’t specify when the Kinect bundle will be released, but seeing as Kinect doesn’t release until November 4, I’d say that would be a good guess. Also, if you pre-order the Kinect bundle, you’ll snag a download token for three exclusive levels for Kinect Adventures.

Microsoft also announced that there will be over 15 Kinect titles available at launch. While we still don’t know all of the games just yet, Microsoft has confirmed that first-party Kinect games will cost $49.99. This also means that Microsoft could offer Kinect by itself for $100 for those gamers who are more interested in the technology of Kinect at launch as opposed to the games, but, sadly, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.

The price isn't a big surprise, but do you think you'll drop $150 for Kinect this holiday? Would you consider picking it up more if it didn't include a game and was $50 cheaper? What do you think of the 4GB flash memory? Kind of strange, no?

You can find even more shots of Kinect, the bundle, and the new console in our photo gallery.

Should the need arise, feel free to E-Mail me your tips, suggestions, and/or personal philosophies, or follow me on Twitter.

To everyone who want to use this for the menus, relax... you will when its on clearance.

Microsoft wants the casual market. (How do you feel about your Game Room now that its all said and done?) Nintendo has that, and I don't see MS taking enough of this market to make Natal a lasting investment. Plus, Nintendo already killed the novelty of motion control. (Don't say your Wii is not dusty)

There are a lot of developers that make cross platform games, so how much effort will it be to add Move into a game that your making for the PS3?

When it comes down to it, I think Natal will fail. MS should be happy with there XBLA\Indie Games. That's the only causal gaming I will ever do on the 360.

If your really itchy to spend your money on something plus a game, may I suggest a Wii and Metriod: Other M?

I'll wait for a price drop and hardcore titles to come out that don't make people jump around like they won the lottery.

really? 4GB? i might as well glue my ipod to that xbox if THATS all the space they're offering! at least give us 10-25GB! i have a 60GB and i'm perfectly satisfied! my current hard drive is 15 TIMES BIGGER then this mediocre offer!

4gb memory card is perfect for the many people who plan to upgrade the hard drive on their console anyway. Why pay for a 120gb hard drive if you plan to take it out and put a 500gb hard drive in yourself? Getting the 4gb xbox 360 saves you some money.

Although, Kinect sucks and Microsoft is full of homosexuality for trying to pass it off as new technology that they didn't steal from anyone.

I hope the people that complained about the price of Move also complain about this, since it's more expensive. I don't see the point of either though. If I was interested in motion controls and things like Wii sports, I would have bought a Wii, but I'm not so I didn't.

so to everyone calling this a failure, I would like to mention that Kinect is in fact in the top 10 bestsellers of video games on Amazon US and UK. And last time I checked I didn't see PS Move on either sites top 100 video game best sellers list (but the PSMove starter kit on Amazon Germany is in fact #13 at the moment of video game best sellers)
I know it's just one retailer but it already looks like Kinect is doing pretty well so far on pre-orders

Kinect looks cool for interface reasons, but thats it. It isn't something I would want to spend so much money on if thats all I truly used it for.

Kinect is just as lame as the eye toy for ps2. I haven't seen one game that looked enjoyable for Kinect. I'll buy Kinect when Microsoft starts caring about their customers (that means never).

Wouldn't turning your head to change directions make it a little awkward to see the screen? Its kinda hard to turn your head right and still look straight. At least for me it is.

4 effing gigs?! what does that amount to? a few game saves and maybe a few dozen songs! Shame on you Microsoft! for that $299 bundle price you could have made the hard drive size AT LEAST $120....but no, you had to mess with that didn't you? shame on you. the bundle won't sell because anyone who has even a shred of common sense ( even the casual, inexperienced gamer) will realize that 4GB at that price....even with Kinect and a game, is a huge ripoff.

Both Move and Kinect are Failures. You're just holding a second dildoh for PS3 that Wii already has. Kinect looks fun but games so far look dissapointing. Games are retarded nowadys

I can see how Microsoft would want to push for casual gaming, but most casual gamers won't spend the money one something that is pretty much like buying a new console. I told myself that if it was like in the $50-$80 range, I might consider it. $150? Pssssh, I'll just buy a wii, then I can relive my Donkey Kong days on the SNES.
