Sequels to blockbuster games are all but a given in this day and age -- if you don't think a sequel is Red Dead Redemption is in the works, you're not paying much attention-- but what about those games that show promise, but don't dominate the sales charts? Sometimes, they get sequels too. Case-in-point: Blur. The game was positively reviewed, but won't make the top ten in sales this year. Thankfully, it looks like more Blur is coming anyway.
In an interview with GamerZines, Nick Davies, producer at Bizarre Creations, Blur is "the start of a big franchise for Bizarre."
When asked if Bizarre was returning to Blur, Davis said:
"That's the plan, yeah. I don't work on the Blur team specifically so I can't speak for them, but it's always been the plan to make the number one racing franchise. That's as much as I can say!"
In my opinion, the strength of a game like Blur is in the community and the replayability -- two things Blur seems to be building by the day. While there's no indication whether Bizarre is working on a "true" sequel, it almost doesn't matter. New tracks, power-ups and game types would keep the Blur community happy for a long, long time.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Blur?
