Sequels to blockbuster games are all but a given in this day and age -- if you don't think a sequel is Red Dead Redemption is in the works, you're not paying much attention-- but what about those games that show promise, but don't dominate the sales charts? Sometimes, they get sequels too. Case-in-point: Blur. The game was positively reviewed, but won't make the top ten in sales this year. Thankfully, it looks like more Blur is coming anyway.
In an interview with GamerZines, Nick Davies, producer at Bizarre Creations, Blur is "the start of a big franchise for Bizarre."
When asked if Bizarre was returning to Blur, Davis said:
"That's the plan, yeah. I don't work on the Blur team specifically so I can't speak for them, but it's always been the plan to make the number one racing franchise. That's as much as I can say!"
In my opinion, the strength of a game like Blur is in the community and the replayability -- two things Blur seems to be building by the day. While there's no indication whether Bizarre is working on a "true" sequel, it almost doesn't matter. New tracks, power-ups and game types would keep the Blur community happy for a long, long time.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Blur?

Yeah, just look at the change from Just Cause to JC2. Don't give up on a great idea just cause it didn't do as good as it could have the first time. And Blur is already a pretty fun game. Blur 2 will be amazing if it improves anywhere near as much as just cause did. Now if only EA will save the brilliance of The Saboteur.

Games that are very average shouldn't have trouble making a great game the second time around.

Blur is good, but Mario Kart Wii is definitely better.

The game is good, I just thought it should have funner race mechanics. Mario Kart Wii is definitely better.

Not a perfect game, but it is a lot of fun. ^_^
The worst part is being a higher level then anyone else in the game kinda singles you out for attack by everyone, and the randomness does kinda grate on you now and then. But overall, a worthwhile game. ^_^

it felt like the game was more funner when you were in the middle like 9th or 10th but you didn't get as much points in 1st cause there was nothing to shoot and you couldn't keep up if you were in 20th so hopefully that changes for the next one

Blur is a lot of fun but there is a randomness to the multiplayer. You can race great and it doesn't mean anything when everyone seems to target you randomly and you end up in 20th place. Also, there's a weird rubberbanding which seems to occur sometimes. I've had moments where I was behind someone in the exact same car and I fly right past them only to have them catch back up to me shortly even if I drive perfectly.

Bring on the DLC, Bizarre! More circuits, more mods, and greater flexibility in game modes for public games (i.e. make World Tour / Community Favorite rooms mean something).
With the degree of options you can set in private matches, the potential game types are vast.

I liked blur's single player a lot but I find Mario Kart's multiplayer much more entertaining.

Too many destruction in Blur... it bores easily!!!

If you like Mario Kart you're bound to like Blur. I love Blur because lets face it, it's fun, not complicated and it's 4-players. Reminds me of Arctic Thunder, yeah remember that it was also awesome. Unfortunately these games are cursed to be largely underrated in the long run.
