The fourth and final iteration of your neighborhood Spider-Man that will appear in Activision’s upcoming Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions has been revealed, oddly enough, thanks to the release of the game’s official box art.
Activision had previously announced that classic Spider-Man, Noir Spider-Man, and Spider-Man 2099 would appear in the game, but this is the first glimpse of the fourth version, which, judging from the profile on the game’s cover that popped up on GameFly, could very well be the black-suited Spidey from Secret Wars. Or it could be something entirely new. Hard to say at this point. Judge for yourself:
What the fourth Spidey brings to the game by way of abilities isn't know just yet, but Activision should spill plenty of detail beans during Comic-Con 2010 next week, so check back then. (As you know, G4 will be covering the absolute hell out of Comic-Con, and you won't want to miss a minute of it.)
In the meantime, any hardcore Spider-Man fans out there wish to inform the rest of us what this particular Spidey version is capable of? How does he stack up to the other three versions?

I was actually hopeing for a marvel zombie type dimension but i think this idea is much better. I hope it takes place during the secret war instead of follow the symbiote storyline.

Is it me or does this game look really, really lame? It just doesn't look like fun to me...this coming from a HUGE Spidey fan by the way.

I thought the whole point of the game was to play with Spider-Men from different dimensions. So I don't think that the black suited Spider-Man from the 616 will appear. I can only think that the Ultimate Universe or the M2 Universe hasn't been used. My money is on MayDay Parker from the M2 universe. It only makes sense. When is the last time that you have seen a female Spider-Man? Wow, that sounds messed up!

Spider-Man had a plain black suit a couple years ago during their "Back in Black" story line. Maybe it's that one.

This is probably the worst spiderman game idea in the history of the spiderman games. It really just looks like the wii game Red Steel 2. If marvel really wants me to invest my hard earned money into a game where at least 3 years ago was at its best, and I mean the best because it was free roam and it had elements from the movies, this game just deals with random fights in a circle or in odd square. This really just looks like another failure from Bobby Kotick and the entire Activision team. When companies like these start to produce games that probably look like they go to the wii and its on an Xbox 360, I own a PS3 and both systems are equally good in the sense that they can play high quality games, and they are not taking the time to develop a solid title then the company should call it quits and let another company take over. P.S- Bobby Kotick can suck it!

If it is indeed the Secret Wars version, then it is the Symbiote Suited Spider Man, similar to what we saw in Spiderman 3 (minus the emo). It was simply an alien being that copied Spider-Man's powers, thus allowing Eddie Brock to be very much like him when he got the suit (and negate spider-man's spidey-sense).
If they use this suit, I don't see how the game would be all that different as far as gameplay, unless you have limited web cartridges in the original suit, and maybe you're given a weakness to sound.
I guess we'll find out next week :)

I figured they should have molded this game after the Identity Crisis storyline where Spider-Man was wanted for murder and took up 4 other superhero monikers (Hornet, Prodigy, Ricochet & Dusk) that each specialized in some aspect of Spider-Man's abilities...

It could be the Black Suit spidey, with unlimited webbing,plus the black suit spidey is more stronger than he is without it. Other powers like increased mobility, and don't for get symbote spidey can shape shift.
But i would i to wait and know i could be wrong and they may use Ultimate Spider-man.
