Filed under "Bizarre Yet Fun" video games comes SimTower from the early 90s. It was a game that let you simulate the exciting world of constructiing a skyscaper! Thrill to the enjoyment of building a skylobby! Marvel at the way the trash is removed daily! And watch teeny people turn red with anger as they wait forever for an elevator. Gripping gameplay.
Admittedly, I played this game obsessively. A bunch of people must have done the same thing, because it spawned a sequel called Yoot Tower (after designer Yoot Saito who later went on to develop Seaman for the Dreamcast) a few years later, and that game had a sequel of its own. Besides Mac and PC, It was also on the Game Boy Advance as The Tower SP, and even the Nintendo DS as The Tower DS.
According to TouchArcade, it looks like the game is heading to the iPad as well. Which is one more reason to buy Apple's addictive little fingerprint magnet. This game is highly enjoyable, if strange, and a touch version makes a lot of sense. Not to Yoot his own horn, but try this out of it gets released. You'll curse me later.
