Driver: San Francisco Pushed Back Into Early 2011

The awaited return of the Driver series with Driver: San Francisco will have to wait a bit longer.

Ubisoft announced today Driver: San Francisco is now scheduled for release in early 2011.

"Due to the competitive market at Christmas," said the company in a statement, released alongside sales estimates for the upcoming fiscal quarter, "Driver, previously scheduled for release during the third quarter, will now launch during the fourth quarter of the fiscal year."

Driver: San Francisco isn't the only game to be hit with delays. Ghost Recon: Future Soldier was also delayed into next year. Ubisoft again cited the competitive nature of the holiday season.

In actuality, this holiday season doesn't seem to be too competitive yet. Probably because many great games were released during the first quarter of this year. So Ubisoft needs to come out with a better excuae than what they're saying at the momen; maybe they're just idiots and don't know when a game is going to be ready.

While some games get delayed, it usually is for the better and it's not like there's nothing to play this year. We still have plenty of big name games coming out this year. As far as wedding cakes go, they are food items, games aren't. Developers would love to release games on a targeted date but in some cases it doesn't always happen that way. Gran Turismo 5 is one of the games mentioned as being known for it's delay (even though it was technically only delayed in Japan, which it was also stated that the Japan delay didn't affect the targeted release dates for the North American and European versions) but my point being is what I mentioned earlier that delays are usually for the better and most gamers would like to have a finished and polished product. To sum it all up, today's game development is much more complex than it used to be but hard work goes a long way with the use of newer game engines and other technologies.

You know what else was pushed back, my stool into my poody hole when I was in jail.

Why announce a release date or period when you can't stick to it? The people who bake cakes for weddings can't tell them it's going to be ready and then say, 'woops! I need another 4 months!'

At least they don't have the yellow with black stripes paint scheme in photo. I was expecting Bumble Bee to transform from the E3 footage last month. -_-
