Ubisoft might be taking their time with the third installment in their Assassin’s Creed franchise, but the publisher has revealed that it does have some very definite ideas about what’s next for series.
As Ubisoft associate producer Jean-Francois Boivin recently told Gamerzines, Assassin’s Creed 3 will feature a new hero and a new setting, as has been the case with the previous two iterations in the series. Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood of course continues and concludes the story of Assassin’s Creed II star Ezio Auditore, and will by Ubisoft's own admission be the last AC game for at least two years.

welllll, since story in game play is the most important im sure instead of choosing america or sorry to say this JAPAN, they will choose a european location. is obvious spain, then europe 100 years later, it all points to just using europe again. the small chance im wrong they will us asia since it is right next to europe. but the timeline shows that they will indeed use europe next and have a new character. if you played game one it shows that family line continues so there must be a son or daughter maybe from ezio that will continue the family tree.

I'd like to see AC3 take place in colonial America and possibly tie in with the Sons of Liberty, but i agree with SavageHunter and say that wouldn't make a very good setting. So instead of just "The New World" possibly have Desmond play as an assassin who comes to America from England around mid game as a colonist in order to start a new branch of the order in say colonial Boston.

I think that desmond should be featured in the third assassins creed, primarily because a rumor is going around that assassins creed 3 might be the final and last assassins creed game. If the rumor is false, than I would love to see numerous other assassins set in many different timelines. Many like Egypt, Japan, Anchient Greece, and other famous historical areas.

I agree it would be pretty to to go to England in AC3 even around the era were they colonize America, or base it as the first of the family to go to America as an Assassin and take on the England as they fight for independants from King George

I like savage hunters idea about it being in japan or Greece but Spain would be better and then America if they make another game but America would be harder so Spain then one with Desmond...

Personally, I think it would be awesome to have the third assassins creed in Revolutionary America. Maybe some how tie it in with the free masons ( because their symbols are quite smiler). I feel like putting a third ancestor in Colonial America would be really exciting but at the same time, it would be kind of a big time leap. But it would also bring the Desmond story a little closer. But if this isn't the case I would love to see an industrial revolution London era. That would also be kinda epic.

ahh well let see no for going back in history if u read in to the auditore tomb it starts in middle east to italy to spain to italy. sooo no spain. personally i hate france even tho ubisoft has french roots. id like to see agricultural revolution or industrial rev in Great Britian, Ireland, or US, which explanes Desmond in the US. Wat ever it is make sure you stay in the correct time line of desmond make sure u stay to the future so he will learn new skills and more about the up coming disaster. it also cant be in asian because u have to remeber that it has to be and ansestor of desmond to go in the animus so it stays in europe or new world. also i like the idea of him being apart of the black hand and kill francis ferdinand to spark WWI. wat ever ubisoft desides keep the exsclusives to ps3!!!!!

It would be really cool if they had it set in the Revolutionary times in America and made the character go around and secretly kill different important people tied to the English that would ultimately lead to the Americans winning the war and explain how the Templars gained a foothold in America while having Desmond outside the animus traveling the world to find the apples of Eden. it would be a good end to the story filling in all open spots in the storyline, not that there are many of those.

this is my friend and i's idea for ac3. it shouldn't go before ezio because the ac series steadily progresses. desmond arrives at the cabin mentioned in ac2, lucy or shaun say they found something in the templar database of a map of the secret temples being sent to george washington. so desmond goes into the animus he is sent to the time period right before you assinate him. (this is all in movie mode so you cant do anything) u fire ur musket pistol at him but there is a glitch right before it hits him and you get sent back 8 yrs. you are in philadelphia with ur brother u and ur brother are tramps and u roam the rooftops looking for people to steal from and favors to do. u join the militia to fight the redcoats while ur brother gets a apprenticeship at a blacksmiths (who is secretly a assassin but you dont know it). in the war you make the rank of liuetenant and serve beside washington and hamilton (who r templars). then it skips ahead to the last battle of the war. this is where you learn how to shoot, stagergize troops, ampush battalions and snipe people from the missions higher ranked officials make you do. the last mission is to surround the building the british generals (also templars) is in. they surrender and they have the treaty signing but they ran out of ink so they make you go get it. when you get back you overhear them talking about how the apple really worked well and the brits telling the american general that the king only allowed this lost because washington promised that he would answer to the king. the templars realize that you overheard them and make the templar lackeys ride you out to the forest and subject you to a firing range. they are about to fire when ur brother(now an assassin) rides in and kills all of them and rescues you. you go back to the blacksmiths workshop with ur brother and you learn to be a assassin from the blacksmith( who is a master assassin). you then go back to philadelphia where you meet ben franklin (who becomes ur weapon designer). at philadelphia is the central government, you overhear some templars talking about a conspiracy and you murder the people responsible. throughout the game you travel to boston, williamsburg, and new york city. at the end of the animus session you already have met thomas jefferson ( an assassin). he tells you that washington has something important and that he is going to anounce that he is the ruler of america. (footnote - hamilton wanted to make the government more powerful but jefferson wouldnt let him so they made a deal to get the capitol closer to the south hamilton picked the spot is above the temple they found) you go to dc and find the temple and assassinate washington but his death doesnt go public the templars keep it secret. jefferson becomes president and finds a map in the presidents desk from other templar leaders showing where other temples are. Jefferson and the main character think it is something that no man should find (grant power) so they burn it so that no one else will find the temples. you go out of the animus now, test ur new abilties, and go off on a quest finding the temples at some of the most famous landmarks of the world.

i think that it should be in colonial america some people think it is not a suitable place for parkour they are wrong colonial citys were big and the buildings extravagant giving a lot of handholds if you dont believe me check out colonial williamsburg in virginia this would tie in with the history of things because in colonial america there were the federalist a political party led by alexander hamilton the federalist wanted power for themselves and the central goverment just like the templars and there was the anti-federalist led by thomas jefferson they wanted power spread equally so everyone had a say in the gaverment kinda like the assassins also in ac2 desmond learns how to fight in this game they can introduce muskets so desmond can learn how to shoot and ampush and snipe also you can still keep swords and kinves it could maybe start at the end of the war were the soon to be assassin is an officer alongside washington and hamilton and then life changing stuff happensstuff happens

Anything modern day or with automatic firepower would be bad cause it just takes away everything AC is about.
If anyone remembers at the end of the 2nd game Ezio encounters the people who came before. These people mentioned these temples that Desmond is destined to find.
Now why just have one setting? Why not have multiple places for Desmond to go to through the Animus looking for these temples?
Some ideas that come to mind are:
-Japan (794-1185) Heian period
- Ancient Africa (9th-18th century) there are many civilazations and tribes to choose from
- Aztec Civilization (14th-16th century) many temples to choose from
- Spain (15th-17th century) a lot like renaissance Italy
- Russia (1547-1721) Russia's expansion as a world power
- France (1789-1799) French Revolution
- Colonies (1756-1763) French Indian War/ 7 Years War
-Ancient Greece (431-404 B.C.) Peloponnesian War
-Persia (550-330 B.C.) Persian Empire
-Britain/France (1337-1453) Hundred Years War
-Scandinavia (790-1066) The Vikings Era
-Caribbean (1630-1730) Golden Age of Piracy
These were just some suggestions. I realize some of them are kind of risky but i am pretty positive that it will be Desmond going back to find these temples encountering Templars also seeking the Temples but to use it for world domination.

Does anyone remember a particular "Truth" puzzle document labeling Henry Ford as a templar who utilized a Piece of Eden to trick his assembly line into working for ridiculously wages? Or the one regarding Thomas Edison and his templar plot against Tesla?
They make me think that a 1900-ish, American Industrial Revolution setting could provide an interesting backdrop for the series. It could take place in Detroit- Ford's base of operations. Plenty of tall buildings to climb and opportunity for fun new gadgets/machinery (Model-T anyone?). Not to mention a cool, dark-urban theme.

I could see the character being Desmond but the scene being in Egypt or some city in the desert.Because as I recall in the first Assassin's Creed I remember Desmond saying that his family was in the desert and that Abstergo had made a trip there and that Desmond parents had got away but thats just my opinion

I would love to see that I the next game set in France during the late 17 to the early 19th century. The character could be a musketeer with sword, early guns and plenty of enemies to decimate (aka the Dutch, English, and Spanish).
