Ubisoft might be taking their time with the third installment in their Assassin’s Creed franchise, but the publisher has revealed that it does have some very definite ideas about what’s next for series.
As Ubisoft associate producer Jean-Francois Boivin recently told Gamerzines, Assassin’s Creed 3 will feature a new hero and a new setting, as has been the case with the previous two iterations in the series. Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood of course continues and concludes the story of Assassin’s Creed II star Ezio Auditore, and will by Ubisoft's own admission be the last AC game for at least two years.
Where would you like to see the next Assassin’s Creed to be set?

I would really like to play in a Victorian England setting with the option to travel to places in Spain and Paris to keep the game from feeling confined to one location, more sandbox game-play. As for the Victorian setting I'm not sure if anyone would enjoy that seeing all of the people for a Japan setting, but I really feel It should be either Victorian England (northwestern and central western Europe), or maybe even incorporate the story with the English gunpowder plot I don't know, I'd just really like to play in some sort of London or Paris setting to be honest.

the next game should take place in France around the time of either king Louis th16th or around the time of the rise of napoleon

Alright... First off... POSSIBLE HUGE SPOILER BELOW
And why not Japan? Around 1850-1860 Western trading became frequent Japan. No coincidence that this is when the Modernization of Japan occured. It will open up swordplay, use of the hidden blades, and still drastically limit guns, because only merchants and traders from western civilizations will have them. Until they've been traded to the locals of course.
Some gameplay will occur in modern (future?) time with Desmond. He's likely to meet his female partner that Minerva mentioned in his mind as he was forced to kill Lucy. She's going to be Japanese (betcha didn't guess I was building up to this?) and you will be playing as Desmond's ancestor during this time, and her's. This also opens up the possibility for local and online CO-OP. Which is a logical next step considering the multiplayer addition to Brotherhood.
This also opens up a POSSIBILITY for an Assassin's Creed 4, but to be honest I think it should end there. Milk it too long and the game will begin to bore if ya get what I mean.

How about 2012 and we just play Desmond with no Animus?

Dude, ins't it obvious? Desmond will travel around the world and when he gets near a temple the bleeding affect will make him go back in time and see how his ansestors hid the artifacts; all this is happening while he's looking for a desendent of eve (since he's a desendent of Adam) so he can open the temple of eden. My bet is the desendent of eve will be a templar.

I dont think the city has to so much have a religious signifigance. The Templer's don't seem to be a religious group, just a group willing to use religin to gain power. I think the idea of Industrial Revolution London/New York. I think itll work well with the info from the Subject16's puzzels mentioning the 'Company'.
mexicanassassin1991
Best I can think of is the Aztec Times in Mexico. No one ever does a video game with a mexican as an antagonist, why not start now?
ArdenFarrier
The setting should be the British empire in the years leading up to the American Revolution in 1776. There's a ton of Templar, Free Mason, and other secret society stuff from that time period.
I think this is a good time, because it's about the same distance in time as between Altar and Ezio. Also, guns had not yet become as ubiquitous then as they are now. I dont' think an assassin using blades, hidden pistols, throwing knives, and a sword would be too out of place.
OR,
It could be set during the founding of the British Empire, around the 15th century. But, that might give it too much of a Pirates of the Caribbean feel.
OR,
It could take place in France in the years leading up the the Storming of the Bastille in 1789.
OR (sorry, last one)
It could take place around Paris and London during the time of the Industrial Revolution.
I think the things for the developers to avoid though, is gun power. Unless they can do it well, ACIII would otherwise be in danger of becoming a shooter game...which I don't think anyone wants.
AND (not an or)
His name could be Arden Farrier.
Arden= Eagle
Farrier= Blacksmith.

i want to see Assassin's Creed III in London with Desmond learning his ancestor was Jack the Ripper.

It seems like Assassin's Creed is going with the 2012 end of the world theory. At the end of assassin's creed the gods said to look for other temples and talked about the end of the world. Mayan setting? Just taking a shot in the dark

Well all three of the games have taken place in italy. so i am assuming that the new location is driving distance from italy, atleast the non animus aspect of it. (car ride from absterigo to safe house, then van ride to monterigonni.) though i must say i was honestly hoping in some way for another ezio story. the story character devolpment has been fantastic. and i also beleive that the "bad guy" will not be the templars. as the story line of AC2 and Brotherhood are very near to when the templars adopted the name of the Masons. so honestly scotland is a not far fetched idea. spain would also be fantastic. Colonial america would be fun, though i weep for when the game turns to more gunpowder than blades, and unfortunatly there obviously was not much sword play during the revolutionary war. I am hoping for France. A musketeer!

Spanish fall from power would be cool, but there are a million different things you could do next. It just depends how big they want to make the series. I mean you have the discovery of America, dozens of wars, and rises and falls of major world powers in the years after the end of the Brotherhood story line. But Ubisoft is very good at finding historical facts and combining them to make story lines. I'm sure they'll figure something very good out.

I think I would hate it if the Assassins lineage went to Japan and got mixed with ninjas and such.
I would prefer they went to London during the late 1800's. At this time we could have an assassin with a jack the ripper style look (of course with a hood instead of top hat) and Templar enemies in Buckingham palace and Scotland yard not to mention tons of area and roof tops to move through. Through the city the hero could jump off big ben, sneak in to Buckingham, hijack some of the first automobiles or regular horse carriages, dive into snow piles instead of hay, and dodge those guards with the big furry hats.
mr.killer117
its going to take place in the french revulotion because it tells you it brotherhood and it is never going to be in any where is japan because the main character is desmond and he is not japanesse

Since the release of the comic series, "Assassin's Creed: The Fall", I just knew that the Russian protogonist "Nikolai Orliv" would be Desmund Miles' ancestor. I believe that Assassin's Creed 3 should be based on Russia in the middle 1800's. All I know is that Ubisoft won't fail us or it's best-selling franchise.

i would love to see AC 3 in ancient japan or china. The fighting styles of those places would just make assassinations way cooler
cabooseworshipr
why can't everyyone see that this will be about Desmond and other Assassins in the present day. At the end of Brotherhood there is a scene where the apple says he has to find the woman that wil help him and this will be where the female main character stuff comes in.
cabooseworshipr
It is probably goiing to be all around the world because in the very beginning of AC2, you turn on eagle vision and there are symbols and writing all over the room. one of these writings was yonaguni, a place which, if searched in wikipedia, has a weird rock formation underwater that seems to be like a building, with straight steps cut into the rock it is debated as whether it is natural or not. This will probably be used as a temple which Desmond has to find. So there are probably things like this they have used in different places around the world and Desmond will have to go to each one.
ultimateexplosion
I'd like to see the game going to different places all around the world with desmond as the ultimate assassin. It would be cool to see some more assassins in this one. The plot would be Desmond needs the help from the rest of the assassins to find the templar headquaters and kill the leader of the templars
ILLPhil86
i agree with row its goin to be in us around the civil war
