Ubisoft might be taking their time with the third installment in their Assassin’s Creed franchise, but the publisher has revealed that it does have some very definite ideas about what’s next for series.
As Ubisoft associate producer Jean-Francois Boivin recently told Gamerzines, Assassin’s Creed 3 will feature a new hero and a new setting, as has been the case with the previous two iterations in the series. Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood of course continues and concludes the story of Assassin’s Creed II star Ezio Auditore, and will by Ubisoft's own admission be the last AC game for at least two years.

Pleaasee please please not modern times??? it would be awful, no story development!! i love the combo from inside animus to outside animus. I agree that Spain would be awesome, or maybe even England post-renassaince!! but just because everything points to "the new world" doesn't necessarily mean the new world as in 20th century.

I just realized, it's not like the character has to have an assassin outfit like the past 3 games. Think about it, The Revolutionary War, plenty of colonists walked around in cloaks and hats. Modify the cloaks and outfit to make it assassin-like a little bit and replace the hats with hoods. Add a hidden blade and a sword and you're set. Another idea is use of the actual rifle. I don't think it would be a bad idea to incorporate a more long range shooting system. Like say, when you first get a rifle, it's the usual locking on and then firing. But maybe later, someone teaches you a way of long distance shooting. My idea was that you could scan the area on a rooftop while staying in the same place or something in first person and if you see an enemy within a certain range, which will have been expanded from just being able to lock on, you can shoot them. The catch is, there is a trick to doing it. Like a meter going up and down and you have to hit the firing button when it's at the top for the most accuracy, depending on range of course. It could add a whole new level of gameplay with assassinating targets and taking out guards! How cool would it be to shoot a guy from a hundred or two feet away during the 18th century? And the free running aspect would be great, lots of short to medium level buildings and coastal areas and rivers to sail in, plenty of wooden beams and market stands to swing through. American Revolution seems near perfect to me!

I think it could be one of two settings and characters the first being present day outside instead of this inside everywhere we've been crap besides monterigioni which we've already been to with desmond as the hero this time actually playing his big part with the final blow out or the second being Paris which would be interesting simply because they are a safistacated and brutal killers set in probably in world war 2 and while the whole wars going on something special could be happening not the greatest idea but it's something that the ubisoft team could spin into gold im sure

Well since the first AC was around the Templar's period in and around the middle ages and the AC2 and ACB was in the Italian Renaissance (~1600's) in makes sense to put it around the Industrial Revolution. Due to its multi-religious and periodical events the Industrial Revolutions, which began around the 1750's, would set it in a perfect alignment into the Abolitionist Era. Think about it , the entire story is about how other control the masses. The industrial revolution provided ultra controlling jobs , children working in mines , slavery , etc. Abolitionism is the term used to abandon the slave trade and the uses of slaves in all . To conclude AC3 should be in England during the Industrial Revolution

England/France during the American revolution would work I think. Assassinating officials and disrupting British troops/supplies. Maybe you can meet a captured native American and he teaches you how to scalp people. Then you can trade in scalps of certain types of people to get cool new assassination toys. Just an idea.

Maybe during WWII,you could be a british assassin taking orders from the new Assassin leader (Churchill, Roosevelt, etc...) and there's a plan to kill Hitler, or even a German blending in to the ranks, again, trying to kill Hitler. And being tied to the assassins, Roosevelt didn't die of illness, but was assassinated, I could keep going on, but that would be useless

Now either theyre just trying to lead the reader away from the truth or it is a hint but theres no reason to play as another ancestor of Desmond because...
1. Desmond has already become a master assassin.
2. Desmond has the Apple
3. Desmond already knows his mission to stop the apocalypse of 2012
4. Desmond already knows he must find the Temples of the First Civilization
Now I personally do NOT believe AC3 will be in the past of another ancestor.
I have researched possible places and everything leads to present 2012 in the New World.
Now when I say New World i mean South America. This is because...
1. 2012 = Mayan Calendar Prediction of Apocalypse
2. Mayan temples = Temples of First Civilization, stressing the fact that the Mayan temples were known to be "Built By The Gods"
3. High populated areas with lots of rugged buildings easy for parkour
4. Notice the gods Desmond has spoken to have unusual head dresses very similar to what Mayan kings wear. Just Saying.
5. Where Else Could This Possibly Take Place Without Being Inaccurate?
It cant be in Japan, No great temples, and Desmond would not blend in as a white guy

France is wrong, no temples, just not exciting, possibly too close to AC2 & ACB

Id like to see Russia, using the comic as a base and pursuing the staff... Something about using Orelov and his big a$$ rifle just sounds like an incredible amount of fun.

I don't understand why the Animus is even needed as a part of the story anymore (although it really depends on whatever Ubisoft comes up with in the story). I mean, Desmond is already a master assassin and they have the Apple of Eden, if they still need any information they can just ask the apple. I think Assassin's Creed 3 should just continue with Desmond's story. I was a little disappointed that Assassin's Creed Brotherhood did not include any conflicts between Desmond and the Templars, as I enjoyed fighting with him at the end of Assassin's Creed 2. Despite my primary opinion on what Assassin's Creed 3 should be like, I still think it would be cool to visit another of Desmond's ancestors in the Animus.

People have to understand that these people are Desmond's ancestors. Altair moved from Syria to Cyprus and then to the Italian mainland. Generations later, Ezio was born. Theres no logical progression that could put his bloodline in Japan or China or any other part of Asia. Im pretty sure there aren't any Templars there either. He's white, not Asian. Name of the game is "assassin's creed" not "ninja's creed."
I'd like to see something in the Americas, like The conflict between Spaniards and Aztec. It makes more sense and wouldn't compromise the use of the hidden blade, horses, or gun. Ubisoft can surely recreate beautiful temples and cities and include new features to the game in this new and exotic place.

They should bring the last installment into Revolutionary War, or Civil War era America. Either when we were fighting the tyranny of the British, or when we were fighting the human betrayal within our own land! This would give them chances to revolutionize the game, while still allowing it to be about sword and gun play

Hmmm..I am thinking maybe carry on the story just as desmond and battle his way through abstergo.There are other ideas that have crossed my mind like japan!Or back to year 72 :D ahah! maybe ....just promise me Ubisoft you make this game legendary

there are three things we have to take into account when guessing where ac 3 will take place
1) it has to be in a time/place where a guy can walk around wearing a giant white hood/outfit and not be given weird looks (so i doubt it'll be set past the 18th century)
2) it has to be in an area where desmonds ancestor can do his parkour thang (which some of you have already noted)
3) like the previous 2 games of the series, the character will most likely have a carbon copy of desmond's face, therefore he would not blend in (which is important for assassins) in a place like japan, which to this day has a pretty strict immigration policy.
therefore, it'll probably take place in spain or maybe france, or maybe something in north africa? only time will tell...
