Comic-Con isn't wasting any time announcing its lineup for 2010. Video games have become a prominent part of the geek event, its influence over the convention increasing year after year. The panels for Friday, the second day of Comic-Con 2010, were announced this morning.
11:15-12:15 Marvel Interactive: Marvel Video Games— Learn all about Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, Super Hero Squad Online, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Thor and and other new games via exclusive trailers, surprise reveals, and Q&A with the game creators, as well as the Marvel writers working on the next wave of Marvel Games from some of the industry's top publishers. Room 6DE
1:00-2:00 Star Wars Day: Beyond Solo: Crafting the Multiplayer Story in Star Wars: The Old Republic— BioWare's James Ohlen (studio creative director and lead designer) Drew Karpyshyn (principal writer), Alexander Freed (managing editor), along with Jake Neri (senior producer, LucasArts), discuss the creation of the multiplayer, planet-spanning story in Star Wars: The Old Republic. While much attention has been paid to the unique individual stories of each of the eight classes in the game, the team is excited to share their approach to the broader stories players will experience in The Old Republic. 1:00-2:00 Twisted Metal Returns!— Car combat returns to the PlayStation 3. Meet game directors David Jaffe (God of War) and Scott Campbell (Downhill Domination) as they introduce the demented characters of the new game, share some early looks at the game's twisted end stories, and show concept art of the PS3 Twisted Metal that never was! 2:00-3:00 Marvel Vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds— The wait is over! After a decade of demand, Capcom delivers with Marvel Vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds! Learn all you need to know about the characters, levels, storyline, fight moves, and combos from producer Ryota Niitsuma and special advisor Seth Killian of Capcom, along with TQ Jefferson, director of games at Marvel Entertainment, and Frank Tieri, storywriter for Marvel Comics. Then show off your fighting game skills as audience members are chosen for some spontaneous challenge matches to win exclusive MVC3 prizes, followed by a Q&A session. Room 24ABC
3:30-4:30 Building a Horror Entertainment Franchise: Dead Space 2— The sequel to 2008's award-winning horror videogame returns with its highly anticipated sequel in January 2011. Dead Space 2 unleashes a truly epic terror experience that will bring the psychological thrills of deep space to a terrifying new level beyond just video games. Executive producer Steve Papoutsis, art director Ian Milham, and producers Rich Briggs and Chuck Beaver will be talking about how they intend to establish Dead Space 2 among the top horror entertainment franchises in the world with a novel, animated feature, graphic novel, Motion Comic game and fan merchandise. 4:30-5:30 Four Worlds, One Story: Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions the Video Game— For the first time, creative talent from all four Spider-Man universes featured in the game Shattered Dimensions (Amazing, Noir, 2099 and a to-be-revealed universe) come together to discuss all the aspects that go into creating a dynamic and explosive video game experience from four unique settings. Get an insider's look at the creative thinking and collaborative effort between comic books and video games with Spider-Man co-creator Stan Lee, acclaimed Marvel writer Dan Slott (Amazing Spider-Man), voice-over talent from the game, and members from Marvel and game developer Beenox, as they dive into the rich lore of past and present Spider-Man, discuss bringing Spider-Man to life in four distinct ways, and unveil new content and gameplay from the upcoming game. 4:30-5:30 Fallout: Game Writing in Evolving Franchises— Obsidian Entertainment, the developers working on Bethesda's upcoming Fallout New Vegas, walk through the process of narrative and cinematic techniques used in bringing life and reactivity to franchises over the years, focusing on their upcoming work on Bethesda's Fallout New Vegas. Examples will also be drawn from upcoming titles, Dungeon Siege III, and previous titles such as Neverwinter Nights 2, Alpha Protocol, and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. The developers will discuss how the franchise and development team can help guide the narrative and cinematic presentation of these elements and will showcase footage from these titles. Room 9
6:30-7:30 Gears of War 3— Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski, executive producer Rod Fergusson and New York Times bestselling author Karen Traviss provide the first look at the biggest game of 2011, including a live game demo and key announcements. Room 25ABC
7:30-8:30 Udon: 10 Years of Comics and Games— Celebrating Udon's 10th anniversary, Erik Ko (Udon chief), Jim Zubkavich (Udon project manager), Omar Dogan (Street Fighter Legends, Robotech), Chamba (Street Fighter II Turbo), Joe Ng (Street Fighter IV, Transformers), and others share tips and tricks they've learned working with some of the biggest names in entertainment, including Capcom, Marvel, Hasbro, and Blizzard.
