A date has been set for Vanquish, the next game from Shinji Mikami, famed game designer best known for creating Capcom's Resident Evil and Devil May Cry series. The science fiction shooters drops on October 19, according to a press release issued by Sega of America this afternoon.
Sega also issued details on GameStop pre-order weapons:
- Boost Machine Gun ("an early experimental weapon with impressive overall fire power and the speed to dispense rounds similar to that of a heavy machine gun")
- Anti-Armor Pistol ("fires special penetrative shell and was manufactured to tackle hostile forces with much stronger armor")
- Laser Cannon ("miniaturized space warship laser and is more powerful than any other weapon available for infantry")
Vanquish is being released on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Excited that it's coming out sonner then expected. I'm a little bummed that it's only going to be a single player game, but then again so was Bayonetta and that is still one of my favorite games to play!!

I'm so stoked for this game! I loved Bayonetta and Madworld. Platinum games is my new #1 developer. I'm glad this is coming out sooner than I expected.

Vanquish looks impressive and it combines several key elements that make a game more original. Despite not having multiplayer, Vanquish has a powerhouse environment that'll make it more immersive. I'm more of a single player oriented person anyway but like I said the environment and the trailers look impressive. I'm glad it'll be released in a few months and from the looks of it, the developers really thought the development through well and took the necessary steps in making Vanquish what it's going to be, which is possibly going to be one of the surprise hits during this fall.

So glad to be getting it this year. Platinum has skyrocketed to one of my favorite development companies and this looks like it will not disappoint.

who cares if it dosent have multiplayer that just means they put all their focus on making an awesome single player experiance I cant wait til this game comes out. By the way whoever thinks this a halo clone is a moron. Its a fast paced 3rd person futureistic cover shooter that has you killing robots not aliens and did i mention your gun transforms in your hands which is pretty sweet.

its not japenese halo, its from from it. This game will have to do well or I expect Platinum Games to just stop since Bayonetta and MadWorld did not do well

Awesome...been in love with this game since the E3 trailer showed that boss fight with the anime style missle blossom converging on the hero...ballz to the wall...ballz to the wall.
