BioWare Announces Dragon Age II

BioWare today announced the first official details about their much anticipated sequel Dragon Age II. The full skinny on the Dragon Age: Origins follow-up will appear in a cover story in the next issue of Game Informer, but BioWare has revealed some preliminary details to get your bits in prime chomping position.

Key Features:

  • Embark upon an all-new adventure that takes place across an entire decade and shapes itself around every decision you make.
  • Determine your rise to power from a destitute refugee to the revered champion of the land.
  • Think like a general and fight like a Spartan with dynamic new combat mechanics that put you right in the heart of battle whether you are a mage, rogue, or warrior.
  • Go deeper into the world of Dragon Age with an entirely new cinematic experience that grabs hold of you from the beginning and never lets go.
  • Discover a whole realm rendered in stunning detail with updated graphics and a new visual style.

BioWare Announces Dragon Age II

An official Dragon Age II trailer will be released on August 17, and eager fans can start placing preorders for the game starting at 10:00am today. No release date is currently known, however BioWare did tease via an insert in copies of Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening that something Dragon Age related would be coming February 1, 2011. Seems like as good a bet as any at this point.

The first Dragon Age was one of the best RPG games I have ever played. I have a subscription to Game Informer and just got the issue yesterday. If Bioware delivers on what they promise the sequel is going to be f$#@ing awesome! But I hae one request from Bioware: I WANT KOTOR 3!!

OMG! i loved Dragon Age: Origins, I unfortunately haven't played awakening, because i dont have xbox live, but i will be getting it soon hopefully.

Stocked for this game, dragon age easily one of the best games of 2009 story, violence, and well strange sex scenes it had it all =P, but uncharted 2 eclipsed everything except for MW2, cuse that thing is just a juggernaught of a game. I never played uncharted 2, but i played just about every other game that was nominated for game of the year, Batman Arkham Asylum (brilliant game and personally my vote for game of the year).

By February with nothing at E3? A sexy if not far-fetched idea. But here's to hoping.

I like what I heard so far about DA2. As long as there are some continuation from the first game like what happened with Morrigan, who is the king, etc. And I hope Bioware isn't planning to streamline the game. I'm sure casual RPGers will get a kick out of it for a bit but eventually they think it's too long or too complex for their liking and play some RPG-lite games like the Fable series. I want my hardcore RPG games from you, Bioware.

I think i like the new art style, tough hopefully the game looks as pretty. Yeah i know they specified better graphics above but i still cant get over how the The visuals for DA didnt live up to Jason Chan's art for it. in my opinion.

Sounds like Bioware is making one of the greatest RPG's of all time more appealing to the masses. Did you hear that? Yeah cha-ching, Bioware is one of the best developers out there and this is just another example of why.
