Dead Space 2

Visceral Games have announced they will release a downloadable prequel to their upcoming action-horror sequel Dead Space 2 this fall.

The game, entitled Dead Space Ignition (“Ignition” being the part of the announcement teased yesterday by Visceral in a piece of game artwork), will let players experience the first wave of the Necromorph outbreak on the Sprawl. It will feature an “interactive comic-style story” that will play out like a Choose Your Own Adventure story, and will include four distinct endings, each of which will net players unique unlocks that can be used in Dead Space 2.

Ignition will also feature three hacking minigames—Hardware Crack, Trace Route, and System Override—along with puzzles and plenty of “twitch gameplay.” New York Times bestselling author Antony Johnston, author of the six-book Dead Space comic series, wrote the game, which, as Dead Space 2 executive producer Steve Papoutsis explained in a press release, is just the first such project coming down the line.

Dead Space Ignition is the first of many exciting game extensions we have planned for the launch of Dead Space 2. The interactive comic-style game will give Dead Space fans a unique perspective on the events leading up to Dead Space 2, and will also introduce the storyline to a brand-new audience of gamers.”

Dead Space Ignition
will be available on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace sometime this fall.

Now that's cool that it unlocks stuff for you in the actual game. All the more reason to download these.

I am over this idea already.. Fable 3 is doing this and now Dead Space. Why do I need to pay more cash for a trailer of the game in theory. Ok yes its a tid-bit of what the game is going to be like but its a TRAILER like a movie tralier. Why are we paying for this? How about making it a free item to get us to buy your product?

I don't mean to sound like "that" guy but couldn't they just include the prologue in the game?

the four endings and CYOA style sounds cool though.

First Off, G4 needs a mobile version of the feed because my phone takes FOREVER to load all the garbage on the feed. (and actually so does my computer, So maybe clean up this area?)

Anyway this is exciting for me. The only reason I ever played Dead Space is because my aunt bought it for me for X-Mas after asking the guy at Toys R' Us. I had seen the commercials and heard about it but I really didn't feel like playing the game. (I startle easily so I don't like games that look like they go for cheap scares. I additionally like realism in my games, so monster [especially in Zombie Games] just kill the game for me).

Anyway turns out I LOVE Dead Space. I think the only achievements I don't have is the Hardest Difficulty setting, the use one gun (half way through) and the stupid Basketball Achievement I'll never get).

It's funny actually because I've been trying to get someone to tell me if Dead Space was made by the same people who made Run Like Hell (for the Xbox and PS2) because it is insanely similar and Run Like Hell was a pretty awesome game for it's day. (I'd actually like to see a Run Like Hell movie more then a Dead Space Movie)

    Anyway back to the subject

I LOVE games that allow me to get extra content with mini games before the release of a game. Fable 2's online story puppet game that allowed me to get all three of the 'exclusives' was awesome. I just love being able to hype up myself for a game while getting myself a new gun maybe that is slightly better or an extra armour set.

Things like this are exactly what helps a game sell. I don't care to read a four comic story on the body of Shepard, or watch a really crappy red dead redemption film produced or directed by that fraud Boothill or Archhill or whatever. I want something interactive that gives me something cool as a result.

(even getting Dr. Pepper caps for ME2 was some what exciting, then again I had no idea how USELESS the Dr. Pepper content would be since I would be using my Exclusive Armour sets anyway)

Additionally Rion, it's funnie because you say Visceral Games has your loyalty, but then you say you'll buy whatever Dead Space and Dante's Inferno games they make from now on. That's more you being loyal to the Franchises, not the company. I get what you are saying though. Just thought I'd be a dick and point that out.

    !!!
Dead Space!!! I LOVE Dead Space!
    Visceral Games Forever! <3

Detest admitting it, but Visceral Games has me hooked on/locked in on their games for forever.
They've got my loyalty..and I'll buy whatever Dead Space/Dante's Inferno game they make from here on out. =D

Will the fans of extraction ever get anymore Dead Space love? Or am I the only one who even owns that game?
