Split/Second Coming To PSP, PSPgo This Holiday

Disney Interactive Studios are bringing the explosive, blistering action of their pyrotechnic-fueled racer Split/Second to the PlayStation Portable and PSPgo this holiday.

"Split/Second has become a hit with fans of racing and action games, and is the perfect fit for the PSP system," said Disney Interactive Studios vice president of global marketing Craig Relyea in a statement to the press.

Controls and handling have been retooled specifically for Sony's handhelds, and the PSP version will include a new track, new challenges, and four-player local multiplayer (and hopefully a little less rubberbanding this time as well).

I don't mean to be rude or nothin', but do you think Split/Second will translate well to the PSP given that so much of the game’s appeal came from the high production values of the set pieces and destruction?

Should the need arise, feel free to E-Mail me your tips, suggestions, and/or personal philosophies, or follow me on Twitter.

Hmm it could work and depending on who works on this version but one of the advantages with the 360 version is all the pyrotechnics and beautiful visuals. I think it's funny though that people complain about rubber banding with this game. The main gameplay mechanic balances that same annoyance. Use your powerplays when they go speeding past you.

I have a bone tp pick with Sony, I bought a psp on day one for 330 dollars,no good games ever came out in the year that I had it,so I traded it in for a peasley 60 bucks at gamestop, then stood in line for 3 days outside of a Walmart, waiting to buy a ps3,I was 13th in line, and didn't get one, they only had 6,and 6 rainchecks,so I was Forced to buy an Xbox 360,and now I have deserted all hope for Sony, go microsoft, just hope they get rid of multiplayer and Halo altogether.

Racing games are often the best type of PSP games as they're the perfect "pick and up play" type of experience. I have played the heck out of Gran Turismo PSP and Motor Storm Arctic Edge. Split/Second on PSP definately intrigues me.

And Jake, you're absolutely right, hopefully they tone down the rubber-banding. (Split/Second on the consoles, while still a really cool and fun game, probably has the worst rubber-banding AI that I have ever seen in a racer).
