Director Gore Verbinski has an eye for style. Verbinski's remake of The Ring and Pirates of the Caribbean are both stylish, good looking films, an important trait for someone looking to adapt BioShock to the big screen. Even though Verbinski is no longer tied to the BioShock movie as a director, he's remained a producer and told IGN he's focused on getting the budget down now.
"We're working [and] trying to make it," said Verbinski. "The problem with BioShock was: R-rated movie, underwater, horror. It's a really expensive R-rated movie. So we're trying to figure out a way working with [new director] Juan Carlos [Fresnadillo] to get the budget down and still keep so it's true to the core audience, you know? The thing is it has to be R, a hard R."
More patience is required, sadly, but Verbinski seems to have the right attitude for this one.
History dictates this won't actually happen, but hey...we can all dream, right?

Yeah... I start to become skeptical when I see "lowering the budget" attached to an underwater, horror movie with a hard R rating. If this movie is going to look like it belongs on SyFy, just don't make it.
narutrunks1
just make the movie animated or just use a larg aqarium build he structures and done

I hope the Bioshock movie will be good.

If done correctly Bioshock will be the crown jewel achievement of video game adaptations, and will completly silence all critics!
j_soap
looking forward to this, i just hope they don't do it in 3D xD

As much as i LOOOVE bioshock, i smell bad acting on the way. unless they get anthony hopkins or someone else like that to play andrew ryan.

I hope that Jack will save the little sisters instead of harvesting them. Otherwise, my gaming universe will collide with my movie universe and ultimately my movie universe will be destroyed and I will be forced to dismiss the Bioshock movie.

As long as the general story stays the same with the same characters. If they try to do it differently its almost a sure failure.

The problem I have is that its a Horror movie, it kind of misses the point if its being made that way...what I took from Bioshock was more atmosphere of a Utopia that went wrong, a hidden civilization lost in time the 50's

I hope they never sell him the rights.. Hes a joke
Gamefreak1792
Damn i want to see this movie, it doesnt have to be R though there wasnt any sex or an extreme amount of cursing in the game so except for the violence im pretty sure they could make it PG13 if they needed to

They have wonderful source elements to use, lets hope that leads to a good product. Although the odds are it will be a muddled mess due to time/money.

A Bioshock movie would rock my socks. Seein some live action rapture would be lovely. This movie would pretty much have to be rated R, I don't think there'd be any way around it (if you had any hope of it being good).

I can't wait for this movie, I loved Bioshock 1 but I haven't found the time to play Bioshock 2.
