What kind of game is it?
Crackdown 2 is an quirky hybrid of platforming, third-person action, and open-world gameplay. It's the sequel to 2007's surprise hit (at least, a surprise to those who picked it up solely for access to the Halo 3 beta). In a turn seldom seen in other open-world games, Crackdown 2 aims to recreate the city of the first game and all of those familiar landmarks that you traversed a few years back in search of that one last power-up.
Who's the Developer?
This is Ruffian Games' first title. The Dundee, Scotland-based studio is comprised of former members of the Crackdown team at Realtime Worlds, including creative director Billy Thomson and studio head Gaz Liddon.
What's the story?
Crackdown 2 returns you to Pacific City, a decade after the events of the first game. You're an Agent, a cloned supercop who soars around the city collecting enhancements that make you more menacing to the criminals terrorizing the streets. In the past ten years, a virus has broken out that has turned segments of Pacific City's populace into mutated homicidal maniacs. Or as the old Whodini track told us, the freaks come out at night. During the day, you'll contend with the Cell, a guerilla group that fights back against the Agency's tight-fisted grip on the city.
Crackdown 2 doubles the pleasure by introducing four-player co-op throughout the entire campaign as well as 16-player PVP combat.
