Saints Row 3 is coming, people, and it's going to be less "gangsta."
THQ's Danny Bilson said, "We don't compete with GTA. We're differentiating even further with GTA with this one...The new Saint's Row will be less urban - it's definitely not about 'gangsta' anymore at all. And it's more fun and almost sillier and wackier and weirder than the other one."
Given Grand Theft Auto 4's practically dour tone, I think Saints Row playing up the silliness of its series is a very smart move. Let's face it: The Saints Row games aren't as good as the GTA games, so building on and highlighting the differences between the two series as opposed to their similarities is smart.
"I love GTA - especially the last one, which knocked my socks off," Bilson said. "That's almost like a Martin Scorsese cartoon, right? We are more like the Mad Magazine version of that or something. It's colourful, it's wild, it's fun.
Let's just hope that whatever non-gangsta look the game employs is compelling and that the silliness is close to as funny as Mad Magazine instead of just corny.

i love saints row one and two a lot more than i did gtr4, there were a few things that could have been done better but all in all they were awesome games. i cant wait for saints row 3 and im happy there not taking it to seriously but i dont know about the game not being gangsta at all. the first two games were all about the 3rd street saints and them taking down all the other gangs in the city, so in saints row 3 if its not going to be gangsta at all what is it supposed to be about and are the 3rd street saints even going to be in it?

Thats stupid you cant make 1 and 2 gangsta and flip the script on 3. Thats what makes the game fun is the gangstaness in it that no other game really has. GTA San Andreas was the only gangsta game out there. And the gangsta fits great with the storyline. Gat, Troy and Dex are still alive, The were part of the Saints int the first one and if there still alive you cant change the gangsta part.

I don't know if this is a good idea, guys. When I played Saints Row 2, never once did I say
"Man, this is ripping Grand Theft Auto IV! I mean, there are cars, and its open world... JUST LIKE GTA IV!!!" It remained different and fresh by being vibrant and upbeat, not dull and dark like GTA IV. Even at the most solemn of moments, the character trudges on with power and aggression, not a tired look in their eyes. I actually stopped Playing Grand Theft Auto 4 because I was so tired of the stereotypical voices of "Russians" and the fact that the cops are now more of an unbeatable force than anything else. I know that police have advanced technology compared to a random immigrant, but since when is bumping into a guy make me get surrounded by 8 of Liberty city's finest? Sure, you can take some out. but for every cop you shoot running you down for no reason, a car replaces them. And god forbid you actually take out a car, because then helicopters that seem to spawn swat teams show up and blow you down. Realistic? Please! Watch the news. If a cop dies, they search for the man for a few days, cruising around and developing a drawing based off of the words of witnesses. They DON'T, however, fell a dark presence and go completely insane attacking a single block with eighty cops. Saints Row isn't realistic either, but they don't aim to be. If a focal part of the story is putting radioactive waste in a tattoo, you know the game is pretty much for fun. I loved the gangster feel of Saints Row. I don't even know how they can take it out if the game revolves around the gang leader. Even with that problem, I still extremely look forward to the game that gave my X Box 360 a sense of pride.

I dont like this, im mean i like how that they are going in a different direction but i like urban and i like the gangster feel. thats what was kinda fun about being a thug in a street gang, with half an army of misguided kids doing ur dirty work. I hope the change isnt as ludicrious as i think it is going to be. worst casinario is that its set on like a island like farcry wich would mean i wont even buy the game. Think about it volition dont trip on ur self confidence.

Dang dont disappoint. this game is my favorite game ever. yeah it may be "corny" but so what the goofyness in this game is what makes it so gangsta cause unlike stone cold serious killas like in gta this game is silly like real gangstas cause it goes hard and does knock off alot like real gangstas

i am so sure the saints row 3 will suck,,.. i like it only because it is gangsta ... fecale .... and then they will go again ruining a great game .... in comparison to this game gta4 sucks big time... i actually got it at first and then saints row 2 because of graphics.... but now i know.... if i would have got saints row 2 first then i would have been really disapointed in gta4... it cant keep up at all... just another thing to add : by making it no more gangsta ... it is gonna be a big flop.... and something else... if it is not gonna be gangsta i hope the company goes bankrupt

saints row is a great game, the bizzaro to superman with regards to gta. both are strong games both have huge followings but one is critically acclaimed the other not so much. but to here them get away from"gangsta" has me a lil on edge. i mean u r a 3rd st. saint dats whats saints row is about. as long as u don't get to far way from the central character, to many times games make sequels and try to get to fancy and lose what made them great games in the first place.sr2 is a great gamei hope they keep it up

im sorry but the recent GTA games have sucked compared to SR..i mean why take away the "gangsta"..take it away and replace it with what..?? i believe SR started something good and should build on it..i agree with my man about the krazy customations..has been no other game like it so y change it..?? add some of the old characteristics of San Andreas such as more interaction with the pedestrians (drugs deals, females and prostitutes)..make it more realistic to the "urban lifestyle"..more realistic cars, stores, etc..SR protrays the fantasy of the society in which we live..i thought San Andreas was a hit..then GTA did a complete 360..then came SR..lets not turn something great into the lame series we find now in GTA..

I think GTA4 was just sad on how long it to to get anywere in it and the cars handled like a sack of bricks, the Saints Row games on the other hand have been really fun with the twist and the end of the 1st game that led into the 2nd and now going into the 3rd I think its gonna be better than its previous instalments

NOW IMAGIN SAINTS ROW 3 HAD THE RED FACTION ENGINE AND YOU WERE ABLE TO DESTROY BUILDINGS AND BRIDGES AND CAUSE TOTAL HAVOC IN THE CITY OF STILLWATER. can someone suggest this to whoever makes the saints row series "bring back the old gangs from the first saints row then make online where thee are al the gangs in single player and online players can join them and have gangwars and strogholds that would be sooo fun and help the game sells"
