Learning From Uncharted 2's Co-Op (And What Went Wrong With Resident Evil 5)

Capcom hasn't outright announced Resident Evil 6 (the lack of a teaser at E3 was interesting), but despite some noted controversy, Resident Evil 5 was a success for the company. A sequel is inevitable. Who will be in charge of the next Resident Evil, however, remains a mystery. 4Gamer reports it won't be Jun Takeuchi, producer of both Resident Evil 5 and Lost Planet 2.

Andriasang picked up a Takeuchi interview with Japanese gaming website 4gamer.

"I'm not involved in Resident Evil 6," he said. "There's actually a number of things I want to do."

Deciding who should lead Resident Evil forward has been a source of stress for Takeuchi.

"As for the future of the main Resident Evil series," said Takeuchi to me during a Comic-Com interview last year, "right now, pretty much every day myself, [Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles producer Masachika Kawata] and another producer at Capcom Japan are playing blackjack to decide who is going to be stuck with the responsibility with making the next episode in the series."

Maybe we'll hear at Tokyo Game Show. Resident Evil 6 and The Last Guardian updates? Ooh.

i know almost every one hated sheva for 1p because she didnt have a brain but for 1p they should give the computer a pistol with unlimited ammo at first and then any thing else you take care of because the computer was a retard wasting ammo and shooting you. and i liked re4 better than re5 because they need to put the creepy back in the game and have the person thats like ashley or who ever it is have a unlimited pistol, you get what i mean

RE5 was to waaaaaaaaaaaaaaayy to bright. The franchise needs to go back to darker, more terrifing and puzzling settings like the previous games. Part of the reason the last titles were fun and challenging is because you actually needed to use your brain and think about where this goes and how this certain item piece fits, unlike the "puzzles" in this installment. RE5 is more like a point-and-shoot action game than a horror-survival with predictable amushes and hiding spots (I personally didn't get scared once). One good idea for whoever is in charge of RE6 is to place new-to-the-game heros in a isolated mansion then to a new doomed city at night with zombies AND plagas (maybe even have them fight it out).

The great thing about resident evil is that they have a lot of characters in the world so maybe we could see more people and more places.

If they stick to just zombies it would get boring, thats why they made the manjinis. They experiment with the viruses wich means progression wich means more powerfull monsters.

@Awesomemans: Didn't say it was bad. Just saying RE got rid of zombies and screwed everything up for me.

RE 5's single player campaign rotted because your A.I partner was such an imbecile. When they weren't blocking your line of sight, they were either shooting you in the back or blowing thru ammo faster than Tera Patrick blows thru... well, you get the picture.

This series needs some fresh air, maybe some new blood can do that.
