343 Industries is widely believed (though it's not yet confirmed) to be working on Master Chief's next adventure, but MTV Multiplayer's learned that Bungie Studios apparently considered delivering another chapter in their hero's story, prior to settling on a prequel with Halo: Reach.
"Even before the idea to build a game based around Reach came about," said community director Brian Jarrard, "a lot of other concepts were explored, up to and including a proper Halo 4, where Master Chief was going to wake up from cryo-sleep and we were going to tell that story."
Though Halo 3 left Master Chief's story open to continuation, Halo: Reach allows Bungie to come full circle on the story started in the original Halo. Halo 4 would've opened a big ol' can of worms.

I like the idea of furthering the franchise of halo and continuing the story of masterchief or the other spartans in the halo books. I would like to learn more about the forerunners and stuff but I think they should stick to the book/game story lines and not do these spinnoffs like ODST and Halo Wars. Stick to master chief and the spartans, halo reach sounds like a good prequal but has received poor acceptance because of the failure of ODST. Spend the time making a good story and continue with the core of the game. Halo 4 sounds like a good jump, maybe bring in the conclusion of the forerunners and actualyl fully explain the fact that they were the human race prior to the flood like you have been hinting at in both book and game.

I hope to see halo 4 one day. but after reach I hope there is a long break so when It finally cimes back i'll be all giddy again. next gen. would be the best time.

Halo is still a great franchise and if you say otherwise because you think their milking "it" then take a look at other franchises with many more games out. As long as they make good Halo games I will continue to buy them.

i love when people assume milking after so far only 4 proper halo games thus far (5 if you count reach or 4 if you dont count ODST) yet those same ones dont say crap about COD, Killzone, Resistence, MGS series, Res Evil, and so on

I'd take a Halo 4 over Call of Duty 9 (Black Ops) anyday thanks.

So @littleb242, they'll be waking you for CoD 50 sooner than Halo 50.
And with that said, each and every CoD game has had the same Scripted Enemies, Same Engine, Ragdolls Implimented in CoD4, and they were a travesty to physics, the same tired gameplay throughout, a scripted, linear, paced experience that is the same in CoD1 as it will be in Black Ops.

Halo 4 is almost inevitable. With 343 Industries focused on the Halo brand, they'd be foolish NOT to give the public more Master Chief. So long as the quality remains consistent with what Bungie provided, the franchise will continue to print money.

Ofcourse they did, they probably considered many things.
But when 343 studios makes halo 4 it would be awesome if master chief landed on another planet with crazy new aliens that try and kill him or something

Microsoft needs to get off Halo, and get Rare to actually make a good game for them, or just give it up so it can be independent.
