We all know Adam's opinion of 3-D gaming by now. He's not a fan. But wait, what's that? He may have changed his mind? Yes that is the magic of the Nintendo 3DS ladies and gentlemen. It has even warmed the cockles of The Sess's heart. After last week's E3 and his hands-on time with the impressive new handheld device, he has softened on the concept of 3-D gaming and is willing to give it a shot and see how game developers will take us into the third dimension.

15 years ago 3d meant that the game was not a flat game where you jump on a traingle with eyeballs' head, curl up into a blue spinning ball that frees forest animals, go around a maze eating white pieces of crap as a yellow circle, or trying to get pieces of a magical triangle to save a princess. know 3d means watching 15 ft. tall monkeys fight the UNSC living on a moon of Jupiter, a kid with an arrow on his head trying to act like Goku, or a demi-god trying to save the world. In 20 years from now they'll have 4d,games that you can feel.

Exactly, unless the entire game world pops out at me a la VR, I don't want it. I dont want to see my fun, then my table, then the enemy, then my floor, then the background. To me, that honestly kills immersion. It doesn't enhance it.

Like Adam said, to me 3D is a gimmick. Everyone wants 3D in their games to promote them better. I saw a movie in 3D and while it was cool, at some points the 3D actually made some of the scenes worse b/c it looked cardboardy. Kinda like a kid's pop up book. Until they are at an advanced 3D stage have a way to implement it into gameplay that changes the gameplay dynamically, then count me out.
Besides, there are more important things to worry about, like user created content. Hello, PC gaming!

of course 3ds is awesome Adam Sessler. the 3d graphic,the screen,the camara,everything
Josef_Foerster
Kinect with 3D could be a little interesting.

Wow, I seriously hit post once. What's up with the triple posting. Don't spamhate me. This isn't my doing.

As long as games always, and forever, offer two versions (3D and standard HD) I'll be fine. I'm still scared of this. And I'll admit, it's mainly cause I will not be able to afford a 3DHDTV anytime in the near future. I won't be buying a 3DS. I'm just not that much into handhelds.
While I can't judge, because I've yet to see a 3D game in action, I'm still not all that excited about it. I feel the same way about that as I do motion controls. When I come home from work, I just want to sit down, relax and hold a controller. I have no need (or want) to stand up and dance around my room with a pair of glasses on holding a wand. I'll never need 3D or motion controls to enjoy a game. I've been a gamer for 25 years, starting with the Atari. It's been just fine so far. Shrug. It's just my personal opinion, but this whole 3D / motion control stuff is just a gimmick. I was a HUGE fan of the Wii when it first came out.....for about a week. Then I got over it.
With that said, I completely respect the technology behind it. Maybe "gimmick" was too harsh. A lot of technical knowledge is put behind all of this and I think they are doing a great job with it. I also respect the fellow gamers out there who are excited about this. I hope it turns out to be as awesome as you want it to be. :) It's just not for me.

Ok, I agree that his reason for having glasses free 3-D seems wierd. Personally, I think they did it because A. it's awsome technology and no one likes those glasses.
But more importantly if you required glasses for a 3-D device that is portable gaming, that would also require people to bring the special glasses everywhere with them. No one wants to, or more than likely, has the self discipline to bring special glasses with them everywhere their portable gaming device goes. The glasses would get lost or forgotten leaving the user disappointed in the product. This is a smart foresight on Nintendo's part, I applaud them for it.

I went camping on the week of E3, but here's my opinion on 3D:
I don't think 3d will become famous untill we start seeing it used in music videos. By then it will either be "IN" or an annoyance to everyone who doesn't have a 3d tv. :P
tastyhouse
I love that he wrote off 3D gaming without even experiencing. Such credible journalism. Flip Flop much?
luckyone91
I meant "Shouldn't" judge...not should lol. Oops. Not gonna get my point across with a typo like that one.
luckyone91
As for Avatar, I liked it. A lot. BUT I don't begrudge anyone who didn't. I understand why. We all have opinions. I don't consider myself better than anyone who didn't like it, just like I don't think ppl who don't like it should judge those who did. Its a movie, and a movie should entertain by making you care about the characters on screen and keepig you interested. Avatar did that for me, but I don't think that gives me the right to claim it should do the same for someone else.
