Surprises are never in short supply during E3 week, and this year was no exception. One of the titles that caught our own Sterling McGarvey a bit off guard was Sony’s rhythm-based sequel Patapon 3. Ear-splitting booth noise aside, Sterling still came away sufficiently intrigued:
“The only way I could maintain any time logged in during my minute or two of gameplay was to tap my own foot to the rhythm of the flashing light bar amidst all of the noise of game trailers, PlayStation ads, and gameplay demos going on around me. Fundamentally, however, the drum-based mechanics are still quite intact.”
Check out Sterling's full Patapon 3 E3 2010 preview for more.

Interesting, indeed... Also interesting to note is that while Patapon is still about $20, Patapon 2 has been on sale for $8, but who knows for how much longer--same goes for LocoRoco 2. I think I'll definitely pick up Patapon 2 and give it a go and maybe begin to anticipate Patapon 3.

I need to finish the 2nd one, but I beat the 1st game at least. I hope in the future they consider giving Patapon a PS3 treatment, SCE's Japan Studio did so for Locoroco with Locoroco Cocoreccho, I think Patapon deserves just as much. I'd much rather play on a traditional console than have my face glued to my handheld.

I have the first one but haven't beaten yet. Having only played the original, seeing this screenshot makes me go "Whoa..."

BS! I haven't even played the 2nd one yet. I got to hurry up.
