Konami announced during their E3 2010 press conference today that Silent Hill 8 (working title) will be creeping its way on to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011.
Player will once again be venturing to the titular horrorfest of town, only this time as an prison inmate on the run after his transport vehicle crashes, killing everyone but him in the process. From there, it will be a battle for survival in classic Silent Hill fashion: explore unnerving environments, encounter terrifying living nightmares, pee pants, repeat.
However, this time around players will be able to decide their path in the game depending on their play style. Try and kill every cursed being in your path, or flee to flee another day; it’s up to you. The game will also include various side quests that will play out differently depending on what play style you prefer.
There are still plenty of questions to be answered about the game, but for now, color me intrigued. I’m a sucker for creepy towns that go bump in the night.

I think they're including the first four, Silent Hill: Origins, Shattered Memories (or whatever that on is called), and Homecoming.

Silent Hill: Homecoming was technically 5. 6 and 7 do seem to be missing for some reason. Well, they can call it whatever they want. I was fairly disappointed with Homecoming. The combat really did not string together in a way that made sense. The dodge mechanic worked half as often as it left me face down dead in the dirt. It would have been nice to see the return of a female main character. This will be the second time around that we have a supposed "tough guy" and as far as story potential...I guess its there but really I just hope it feels a little more finished. Visually and aesthetically homecoming was great. Trying to solve one of the first puzzles and being cornered by monsters that you cannot hope to kill in the third or fourth scene drove me nuts.

I'm not looking foreward to it, they lost me at the second one, with the regenerating enemies,the run away crap,and the constant reliablity of a flashlight, give me enemies that stay dead,literally, I want to see them still laying there 60 hours later in the game,and the stand up and fight them approach,and a huge arsenal of weapons,that at least one of them would have unlimited ammo.

I was hoping for some info if we could expect a new one or if they were just going to re release old ones. The basic story reminds me of the game that came out a while back were you are an inmate and your rage would turn you into a monster and depending on how much you used your raged determined the ending. Definately looking forward to this.
