At its press conference this morning, Nintendo dropped a bombshell: A new GoldenEye game is being developed by Activision... finally!
GoldenEye 007 comes out in November, and will be familiar to anyone who played the classic Nintendo 64 GoldenEye. It's a first-person-shooter, and Nintendo's trailer mentioned a bunch of game modes as well as the return on eight famous Bond characters: OddJob and Jaws will be on hand.
“GoldenEye for the N64 was one of the most acclaimed games and fans regularly cite it as one of the most influential and important titles in history,” said David Pokress, Head of Marketing for Licensed Properties, Activision Publishing. “We’re thrilled to bring the new GoldenEye 007 to gamers around the world as an all-new adventure that seamlessly integrates nostalgic GoldenEye movie moments with innovative FPS gameplay and unique multiplayer action that is unrivaled on the platform.”
The game is exclusively for the Wii. Check out the game's official site.

Okay, now I'm extremely confused. Rare just made a 360 port of their unofficial sequel to GoldenEye, Perfect Dark. They have, or at least had, a HUGE portion of the rights to this game, so, does this mean that they're sharing the rights with Activision now? The same goes with Donkey Kong Country, too. Rare made every single side character in the Donkey Kong series, so, they just gave that up too? Rare is with Micro$oft right now, so, please, someone explain to me what the heck is going on.

It's going to fail because it's on the wii. Almost all the big first person shooter fans who fell in love with Goldeneye are on the xbox 360. Putting it only on the wii is incredibly idiotic. The Wii audience does not care about first person shooters in general let alone Goldeneye. What a stupid move on Activisions part. It's like selling parka's exclusively in Florida.

I know people loved the GoldenEye for the N64...but there are other Bond movies to base a game off of...why base it off of a 15 year old movie which a lot of younger gamers probably haven't seen?
My prediction: this is going to bomb...they are using the name and it will result in a blah shooter...it will not live up to the hype people are creating for it.

It almost looks like a completely different game. I mean some of the levels look the same but for the most part it looks nothing like GoldenEye.

Sorry but this did not move me to buy a wii

Well I can understand why this game will be a Wii exclusive. I mean the first one was a N64 exclusive. But I'm still pretty curious to see how they are going to capture a really fun classic game like the first one??

I spent countless hrs playing this game, glad to see it back in the lineup again, I think alot of older gamers will buy this just for the nostologic feeling. I hope it's good

Uhhh, no thank you, it could have benefited greatly had it been Multiplatform.

Wii exclusive? YES YES YES

please kill it. It's not Goldeneye! It's some kind of mutant version of Goldeneye that looks bad and will probabaly play bad. Daniel Craig as Bond, wrong. Only 8 classic characters, weak. Re-dos of the best levels, lame. You can have good looking games on the Wii, Nintendo just doesn't really care to give it thier shine.

So, it's a new Goldeneye, not an update of the awesome N64 Goldeneye? I'll pass, thanks.
