EA talked briefly about EA Partners, which included a lot of hooting and hollering when Respawn Entertainment head honchos Jason West and Vince Zampella were mentioned (and they're in the audience), but the first game they detailed was Crysis 2. They detailedf the nanosuit that can switch between stealth mode, and armor mode, and talked about the new location in New York, which offers an "emotional" connection as you try to save the city.
Here's a lofty promise that EA lobbed at us: Crysis 2 will have the most intelligenty enemies in any FPS game ever. Was that the case? Well. enemy A.I. didn't run blindly at the shooter during the demonstrated gameplay, but we unfortunately couldn't put them through an IQ test. The gameplay showed off multiple weapons, stationary turrets, enormous mechs bursting through walls, and a hell of a lot of destruction. They took us through an interior lobby fight that looked like the scene from Ghost In The Shell on steroids, which ended with a building nearly falling on the main character.
Then audience members were told to put on their 3D glasses, which must have been secreted Oprah-style under their seats, to watch the steroscopic 3D game mode which will be in all versions of the game. Gimmick? Nifty? We'll have to let you know, since the version we watched was plain old 2D.
