At its E3 press conference today, EA dated Dead Space 2. The sci-fi survival horror title will hit shelves on January 25.
The highlight at the presser, though, was the amazing gameplay demo. EA promised it would be "truly epic" and damned if it wasn't.
The trailer showed off a bunch of environments, including the Church of Unitolgy on the Spraw, where Isaac is attacked by a swarm of gruesome, big-headed necromorphs. It's like watching someone attacked by 30 mutant 4 year-olds, and I mean that as the highest compliments.
It's a visceral battle, with screams and a pervasive sense of dread... plus, new weapons: Looks like some gun that freezes and does area-of-effect damage for crowd control.
The demo ends with Isaac sucked down a hole, to face a massive boss that we only get a brief glimpse of: It's a cliff-hanger, and a terrifying one!
