Microsoft ended its E3 press conference today with a bombshell: A new Xbox, with a slimmer profile and built in wi-fi will be on store shelves later this week.
The new Xbox has a 250 GB hard-drive, and was called "whisper quiet." It will sell for $299.
Channeling Oprah a bit, Microsoft also announced that the entire audience at their E3 press event would be sent one of the new 360s. Amazing, right? Thanks for the generosity, Microsoft!
Interestingly, Microsoft did not mention a price for the Kinect device at the conference. I wonder why not? Care to speculate in our comment section? Or guess a price-point?

Well I for one am disappointed in the i announcement. I was hoping for a $199.00 or $150.00 price for the slim when they came out. I bought a Halo 3 special edition for $399.00. With less features. I guess because they put wi-fi and an over priced hd in it they can charge an outlandish price for old hardware. I'm going to have to pass on this one

i love the ps3 and hated the xbox but after the e3 trailer i totaly think of the xbox difirently. the kinect and the new xbox made the bigest diferance and i cant wait to buy one this summer and then buy the kinect in november. p.s. you should name this xbox something else.

Only thing I wanna know about the new 360: Can I transfer my data from the current HDD on my current 360 to the new one? I'm not seeing the detachable HDD on there...

Couple of things: Design is cool, but what does the controller look like? New or unchanged? Will they offer Kinect as a bundle with this near X-mas? It looks designed to be set vertical (looks fatter on bottome, photo distortion maybe?), I'm assuming it can still be set horizontal?

The kinect looked kinda neat but i already have a wii that i use to collect dust so it just doesnt seem worth it to me. And price wise i would have to agree with the under $200. Hopefully they took the time to fix the red ring

The new Xbox 360 experience, the experience you expected at launch, and the experience PS3 has always offered, is now on the Xbox 360!!! Not to mention the newly developed chipset which will finally stop catching on fire, as well as a fan that wont keep you up at night!!!

The xbox redesign looks like crap, and really changed nothing for anyone but new buyers. Still no blu ray, but hey, at least after 5 years they figured out how to not rip you off for wifi. Really, it's only more like a ps3. Also, natal I would guess 150$, seems very logical, but I won't be buying, navigation looks laggy and the games look like wii shovel ware. At least they had mgs rising and gears 3 make a showing, otherwise the conference would have been complete garbage. m$ really left it open for an easy Sony win this year.
