Electronic Arts revealed today that the previously announced co-op-centric Onslaught Mode downloadable content for DICE’s blockbuster shooter Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be released on June 22.
Onslaught supports up to four players and includes reworked and beefed up versions of the Valparaiso, Atacama Desert, Isla Inocentes and Nelson Bay maps, and will, for reasons still unknown, put an emphasis on vehicle-based combat. The DLC will be available on PlayStation Network for $9.99 and Xbox Live for 800 Microsoft Points.
EA also announced that it will be releasing a Bad Company 2 Kit Shortcuts later this month that will let players buy access to each character class’ item inventory. The kits will be available on June 16 individually for $6.99/560 MSP, or as a bundle for $19.99/1600 MSP.
This kind of cash vs. time approach is normally seen in MMOs, but it also feels totally natural for something like Bad Company 2 too. Anyone out there have any strong feelings for or against this model?
Should the need arise, feel free to E-Mail me your tips, suggestions, and/or personal philosophies, or follow me on Twitter.

So when are these going to be available on the PC? Come on, DICE, whatever happened to keeping old friends close. You won't find older friends than us PC users, we have been supporting the Battlefield series since Battlefield 1942.

Ive had my Bad Company 2 copy ever since it first got released and then I got the YLOD! now all my friends have everything and I dont :( so I have no problem buying the unlockables to catch up with my friends again but I wont buy all the unlockables just a few I might need right away

People still play games on PC besides WoW? No way!

Also on this subject. If this game mode is being released in less than 2 weeks why have we not received any information on it. I would love to know more about something before I spend $10 on it. Usually they give you details first then pricing later. What was the point of buying the game new instead of used for the VIP access if all we get is reworked maps, and you can't even use the code if you have a second account on your PS3 (like I do for my friends when they want to play). I payed full price for the game for this and it doesn't get me anything on my other accounts, let alone on my main account. If you have VIP access you should receive this DLC for maybe $5 as a discount. Disappointed in EA.

Am I the only one who thinks it is kind of unfair that they are letting you pay to unlock the best guns early? I mean for people like me who actually worked for my M16 and M95 it is pretty dumb. They said they would try and lower the amount of sniper whores that are a cancer in hardcore and yet it just made it worse. Now they made unlocking things for yourself pointless since you were big and bad walking around with an M16 that everyone and their mom has now. I think it is a cheap way to make money. Don't get me wrong I love DICE and EA but that is just bad business.

it looks great but im not gonna get it for 10 bucks. im gonna play each map prbably twice and be done

No mention of the PC? Why do developers refuse to take our money or offer us the content that they created using industrial PCs? They prefer to convert from PC to console, then back to PC apparently. Maybe theres some reason, but I don't know.

I think Onslaut mode will be awesome. Not only will it help squads but it will also teach noobs how to fly for once, so when I get in the minigun on the blackhawk, I wont need to wory about jumping out. Plus it seems like it will be like the singleplayer from the older Battlefield series, meaning if I get a little pissed from players dominating me I dont have to turn off B:BC 2
As for this weapon unlock, SPECACT, or whatever I think it is an atrocity. Now players dont need to earn their weapons, they can just buy them. Personally, I have unlocked every gun through hard work leveling each class. There should be some rank limit or some thing so that not everybody can have it.

I don't see any problem with people buying unlocks. I wouldn't since I already have everything and rather enjoyed using each gun and having something to look forward to.
All it really means is the noobies will be able to jump straight into their carl g/an94/m60 kits and finally get a kill or two.

Buying the unlocks almost defeats the purpose of Battlefield.

I buy for 9.99

I will probably end up buying the Onslaught Mode. I wonder how big the file size is going to be?

Why is it that they never mention the PC version, I mean they go to all the trouble to release a great game on the PC, then never seem to mention it.
I don't just mean the pricing structure for the DLC, just look at the Twitter feed very few post relating to the pc version.
