Stardock's Elemental: War of Magic will be released on August 24, 2010.
This PC epic strategy game puts you in the role of king, ruling over a troubled kingdom. Here is a bullet-pointed list of the troubles you will face:
- So-called “adventurers” have entered the forbidden dungeon of Ithyrl and unleashed the long-banished demon Kroxir, killing them in the process.
- Lord Ventir menaces your southern border with his army of death knights.
- The Sorceress Procipinee has claimed your northern cities as being part of her domain.
- The ancient beast Smarag has agreed to aid you if you recover her eggs, stolen by a party of adventurers.
- More!
Check out the trailer for a look at the game in action in the walkthrough video above or the customization walkthrough after the cut!!

The game had a ton of potential, but was released as an incomplete work. Check back in 3 months.

I have to say this is shaping up to be the must have game of rts / tbs genera .. Based of Brad Wardell's fantasy world (he also has book published by random house coming out from this same world http://www.randomhouse.com/cat alog/display.pperl?isbn=978034 5517869) ..
Oh and least I forget if you buy the book you will get access to a special mini campaign in the game!
The creative mixing process used by Stardock (early and long betas) and the creative input from the random house creative staff, promise a rich and deep world and game mechanic.. I like to call it Civ meets baldurs gate.. I have been playing the game since beta 3 and the changes from beta tester and dev discourse can be readily seen.. not only that Stardock has promised 2 updates.
Version 1.1: First major free update (30 days after release)
1. Usual performance, bug fixes, and other optimizations.
2. More optimizations for better Netbook support.
3. Single Player: New Content and Features based on player requests
4. Single Player: AI Wars
Version 1.2 (Second free major update (60 days after release)
1. Usual performance, bug fixes, and other optimizations.
2. New Features based on player feedback.
3. Brad's first serious mod example (Mini RPG).
4. Art Package for Modders to use (content for use by modders).
5. Multiplayer: Arena Mode
and thats not all they have an incredible set of modding tools coming out that we get to start tinkering with in about a week.. I mean what a roller coaster ride this is going to be.. for more information visit http://www.elementalgame.com/ or if you want to see some extended gamplay footage please visit Gorstagg's website here: http://gorstagg.wordpress.com/ this is the reason this guy is the number 1 contender in the elemental army competition http://www.elementalgame.com/a rmy

Heh.... In this presentation creation of main character and its nation took 2:49.. I knew myself and thus I know that I will spend at this operation at least 20 minutes.... ( While playing in Baldurs Gate i spent half hour just for "rolling" my stats :) Elemental offers so many options in customization and we saw only a beginning of this game ! What awaits us when we get deeper in it ? Only time will tell...

I have high hopes that this will be a more personal experience than a civilization game... kinda like Master of Magic meets Civilization meets Sins of a Solar Empire and is fun! (psst next time marry a younger hot blonde)
