Press releases teasing upcoming announcements are wastes of Internet space, but as a huge fan of last year's massively overlooked fantasy platformer Trine, I can't help but be giddy at today's enws. Trine developer Frozenbyte has signed with Atlus to release a downloadable game in 2011.
What is Frozenbyte working on? Who knows. The press release doesn't say, but unsurprisingly, Atlus and Frozenbyte are promising more details are coming at E3 in Los Angeles next week.
"We couldn't be happier signing our new game with Atlus," said Frozenbyte CEO Lauri Hyvärinen. "As an independent developer we felt that partnering with a publisher who is flexible and shares our vision of the game was the best way to bring the game out to a large audience. We can't wait to unveil the mystery - I'm confident that we're creating one of the best titles of 2011!"
Okay, okay, I'm on board. I want more from Frozenbyte. Is it too much to hope for Trine 2?

I absolutely loved Trine. I'm always looking for a new, uniquely fun 2D platformer, as they are few and far between nowadays.

Trine was great, but I think a completely new story would be nicer. A sequel would feel like too much of a cop out for the developer of such a wonderful experience.
