Sega today announced that their epic crime saga Yakuza 4 will be released in the west in spring 2011 exclusively for the PlayStation 3.
Considering Yakuza 3 was just released this past March, it wouldn’t be terribly surprising if Yakuza 4 were released around the same time next year, espeically since the game was released in Japan back in March as well.
Designer Toshihiro Nagoshi will chat will fans via email after E3 next week, answering all manner of questions relating to the game. So check back then for more details. In the meantime, feel free to check out some new face-crushing screenshots in our photo gallery.
Anyone out there thinking about Seppukuing themselves with joy over this announcement?

I hope when it comes to western audiences, they won't cut off some of the contents like they did with Yakuza 3.

I made the mistake of buying Yakuza 2, thinking it was a different game, man, talk about horrible controls, you can have this game Sony, good riddance, there's no way I would ever buy another yakuza pile again.

Holy cow, I didn't even know this game existed. We really get these games late. I remember Yakuza 3 was out in Japan before we even got Yakuza 2.

As one of those fans that campaigned for a US release of Yakuza 3, I'm very happy to hear that we'll be getting Yakuza 4. Although, now, we'll have to start the campaign to insure that we get the entire game this time. As a mahjong enthusiast, it would be nice to see the mahjong mini-game (even as basic as it was in Yakuza 2) back.
