2K Sports has confirmed that basketball great Michael Jordan will grace the cover of NBA 2K11.
2K Sports vice president of marketing Jason Argent told CNBC that the decision to pursue Jordan for the cover was inspired by their confidence in the fact that NBA 2K11 is “the best NBA video game ever made.”
“So we thought to ourselves,” Argent continued, “how can we embody that and there was only one person on that list who we wanted to have and that was Michael Jordan.” This certainly remains to be seen, however, Argent, rather humorously, went on to say that securing Jordan for the game “is the most ridiculous win of all-time.”
Jordan echoed these generous sentiments, saying, “It’s an honor to be featured on the cover of NBA 2K11,” before adding, “I’m looking forward to getting back on the court, virtually.”
While Jordan is expected to appear in the actual game in some capacity, 2K is obviously keeping those details under wraps for now. Although, 2K did reveal that the game will be available on October 5.
Electronic Arts announced earlier today that their franchise revamp NBA Elite 11 will also be coming in October, setting up what should be a rather compelling little tip off between the current king of basketball games, which will now have the Air Jordan touch, and the inaugural entry in EA’s new and improved basketball franchise.

Jordan needs to be in live 11 to or elite or waterver. BTW JustTheBeginning kobe didn't show up nobody. Jordan's got more rings than kobe anyway. No disrespect Kobe

Can't Really say I enjoy buying Sports Games just because they come out with a new one each year but with The Greatest man to ever play the sport on the cover of the greatest NBA game I will be sure to get this game. I mean If you dont like MJ you are either a loser or a Cleveland Fan oh wait thats the same thing.....

1- Lebron didn't play Kobe in the playoffs.
2- Lebron had MUCH BETTER stats then Kobe throughout the playoffs.

even if he is retired this is still awesome. i haven't bought a 2k game since 08 but it might be time to get a new one.
i remember some of the worst things about the old games was that his license was to expensive to aquire. the market has grown a lot since then though.
my guess is that they will make some sort of legends thing with bird, magic, malone, walton, stockton, dr. j, and etc.

Any EA Sports game that wants to claim to be making new & improved changes needs to do more than change the games' name to assure gamers of that. EA Sports has an affinity for sitting on it's successes. We'll find out soon enough what Electronic Arts' definition for the word "revamp" really is... if we don't know already...
But it's good to know that basketballs' REAL king will be on another cover.

Bet Lebron is pissed, first he gets showed up by Kobe in the playoffs, now the person he's suppose to be is on the cover and Michael has not even played in this decade!
