UPDATED 9:51 AM -- A Microsoft spokesperson just passed this along: "We don't comment on rumor or speculation."
Original story follows:
The pre-E3 rumor train keeps chugging along, and today’s stop brings with it news that Microsoft plans to announce Hulu support for the Xbox 360 during E3 2010.
A “very reliable source” told Gear Live that the currently free Internet video streaming service will be integrated into the 360 the same way Netflix currently is. And similar to Netflix, Hulu will require a subscription fee to access it. However, like pretty much every other substantial detail about the service’s supposed new platform integration, it isn’t clear what the subscription model will look like.
Speculation has been circulating for a while that Hulu would cease being free sooner rather than later. Perhaps the announcement of 360 integration will serve as a double barrel approach to introduce the new subscription plans people have been expecting for some time now. E3 is only two weeks away, so definitive answers aren’t far off. I've reached out to Microsoft for comment, but I have a feeling we're going to have to wait until E3 to find out the whole story.
Chance of this rumor being true: 84.91 percent
Would you pay for Hulu if it were available on your 360? How many people purchased Netflix subscriptions after it was integrated into the 360?

Does anyone else get the feeling that "Hulu" thinks way too highly of itself?
They already have commercials in their shows, why on earth would they switch to a subscription model?
Can they not figure out how to make money off ads?

I would only use Hulu on my xbox if it was still free. Hulu gets rid of stuff too quickly for my own taste.

Why am I sensing that Microsoft is going fall on its collective face at E3?

I'm thinking that the subscription fee for Hulu had better be cheap because a Netflix subscription is only like 8 bucks a month. So for Hulu, I personally, would want it to be free or included with a gold subscription. I mean if they overcharge they will only be shooting themselves in the foot.

I read that they plan on still having commercials even when they switch to a pay service. Seems bogus to me.

playstation "COULD" do that two years ago! Woo hoo this is huge news! *sarcasm*

Bring this AND Netflix to the Xbox 360's in Canada. You guys are hogging all the awesome stuff. You wanna make more money? provide it to Canada, we ALL have Xbox's up here and we ALL watch movies and TV, no brainer? Ummmm, yeah.
FuzzyHammer
I wouldn't pay for Hulu unless they featured EVERY EPISODE from every series I watch on Hulu, but if it's just going to be the 5 most recent episodes, then I'd just watch it online while I play WoW...

I say no thanks to internet tv coming with a paid subscription fee, especially on the Xbox!! Last I checked everyone has a Xbox plugged into tv right?? Chances are those same televisions also have a cable or satalite service in there homes as well. So why would I pay a monthly fee to atch the same stuff I can watch on tv from a service I already pay every month for?? By their programming being commercial free, after charging a subcription fee, we are now hit with the tab that advertisers would gladly pay to maintain their service. Now if Hulu offered the ability to download and even save to your hard drive shows and movies you watch on Hulu, then they might be on to something...

lol if they do it will (almost) completely eliminate the reason to have a netflix account. save only for those obscure tv shows and movies that hulu does not currently have.

This is cool, but i usaly have my laptop with me everywhere.

Why pay for something that's free on the computer?
littleman00
Cool, idea, but not if I had to pay extra. The only reason I use Netflix over XBL is because I'm already paying for Netflix. I have no interest in paying for something I already use for free. Of course, I haven't seen the pricing structure, so maybe I might change my mind if I could watch Hulu, ad-free, for, like a dollar or something.

awesssssome. I am currently in the process of moving out of state to attend college. I need to cut some corners, so this would solve my cable bill problem!
mivan83
haven't really used hulu, but i did renew my netflix subscription once I got my gold account
EvilShenanigans
That's cool, although it doesn't really do much for me. I have a 360, but when I want to watch hulu on my tv I just use my laptop and hdmi cable. But, this seems useful to people without handy computers.
PiMD360
Then again, they could have a free membership and a paid, by making people watch all the commercials with the shows.
PiMD360
I would pay for Hulu if it was all commercial free.
