Sometimes, enough is enough. In a piece I'm publishing later today, I'll tell you why I haven't given up on Bit.Trip.Runner, despite the game's brutal difficulty level. That's not to say I'm not willing to give up on a game, though. I can't actually remember the last time I actually said "no, eff you, I'm done" and turned the console off. Usually, I get bored and forget to go back. In that case, Bayonetta.

I gave up on MGS4, I know I am a evil person and that game is amazing but it just did not click for me. I really wanted to like it, rented it twice, but could not get past the second level : /

Farcry 2.. fun game, but save games get messed up a lot...

Mad World. got really boring really fast.
No More Heroes. just put it down to play something else and never picked it back up.
Final Fantasy X. got about half way through, then my backwards compatible PS3 got stolen so i lost my save file. when i bought a one, they weren't BC anymore.
Dissidia. just got really really boring.

Hate to admit it, but I keep going back to Iron Man. It's so frustrating and addicting, even though it got a horrible review. I try to finish every game I buy, although I too haven't finished Far Cry 2 ;)

I gave up the first Assassin's Creed game. I was bored out of my mind. In retrospect, it did not deserve a 5 out of 5.

Hmmm... I have to think about it. I'm usually not one for giving up on games - especially if it's a game that I've bought - but there are definitely games that I haven't finished yet, that I've been meaning to go back and beat, for a long time. "Far Cry 2" comes to mind. It's a great game, but it feels like it goes on forever, and it gets so monotonous after awhile that I get bored, and have to stop for awhile. Then there's "Overlord". One of these days, though, I vow to myself that I'll finish them.
I'm kind of surprised no one has mentioned "Demon's Souls." I haven't given up on it, but still...

Far Cry 2. Keep going to back to after every 6 months or so. Flawed broken game but inspired in parts.
GTA4 Lost and Damned: Just got sick and tired of the whole biker spiel. For that reason I haven't played Gay Tony yet.

Too Human. I literally through it out the door.

Every final fantasy game ever made. ever.

I still can't get into Oblivion... I try and I try, but I just can't do it.
...and this comes from someone who LOVED Fallout 3.

I've given up on the Tony Hawk series. American Wasteland was the last bearable game.
gambit1023
I gave up on Aliens v predator cuz it was just so damn boring.

Prototype, to me, was over rated. Camera angles in close quarters were unforgivable, frustratingly hard, and a mother load of useless side missions (another pet peeve). Maybe because I had just barely finished Spiderman:Web of Shadows, almost identical in game play, leveling and graphics but I just couldn't get far before giving up. Thank god I rented it.

The first Splinter Cell for Xbox 360, Double Agent maybe? What makes a game worse to play than being frustratingly hard? Long load times from resetting your death. I HATE THAT.

I have never been able to finish a final fantasy game...i have tried to beat every one since FFVII but i have never been able to do finish one, i think i only have an hour or so in FFX but have no desire to beat it
Bullet747
If you consider Heavy Rain a game than that.
But most rescently I gave up on Bioshock 2. It didn't even come close to capturing my interest. It took me about 6 hours in to realise Bioshock 2 is a real downgrade from Bioshock. Even the visuals were less pleasing to look at. And I know it's not nostalgia becuase I tried out one after the other.

Ok, so here is my list:
1) Final Fantasy VII: The only reason why I never beat it was b/c I could not get the Knights of the Round Materia! Every way I found did not work!! Tried for days!!! I even tried to defeat Sepheroth w/out it and he kicked my butt so hard that my character grew boobs!
2) Final Fantasy X: Sort of like FF VII, I wanted to get all of the characters' ultimate weapons before beating the game and it just took too long to do. I really wanted to mop the floor with the end bosses.
3) Metroid Prime: Ok, now this one was my fault. Apparently, I missed a needed power up and didn't have enough energy to defeat Mother Brain. Got real close, but no luck, so I never went back.
4) Super Mario Bros: Yeah, yeah, many have beaten it and I have seen it beat many times. However, that is still considered one of the hardest game, by many, and I just never got around to really trying to beat that game. I do have it downloaded on my Wii, so I might just try so I can at least check this one of my list.
5) I could list more, but I am tired of typing. The others stemmed from me getting a new game while I was in the middle of trying to beat another, and I never went back to finish my game. Kinda hard to get your skill set back after you have left a game for a while. Alright, I'm done.

Wow, I have been awake for far too long,
When I woke up yesterday I checked G4 just after the morning hangover was posted, I haven't gone to sleep since I woke up then.
I've been listening to metal, drinking coffee and coding for the last 24 hours.
I'll probably continue for another 5.
More on topic. I had to quit the last Ace combat game, the game itself was fun, but in the story they kept saying the expression "Dancing with the angles" like every 5 minutes, We get it, the planes are angles and when they fight it is like a dance.I got so tired of it I ended up taking the disc out and it has never gone back in since.
oh and Donkey Kong 64 for some reason was taking me forever to beat, so I just gave up .
Yasac
I have some kind of completion problem. Once I start a game it is nearly impossible for me to stop playing it until I beat it. Such as Viking, terrible but dang I spent a day or two finishing it off for no reason other then to complete it. I have never touched it again.
Meatball_Mamba
Bit.Trip runner is great, it's brutal, but it sucks you into some form of masochistic addiction. It's like playing through Trials HD all over again (real men restart the course when they stuff up :P ).
