Electronic Arts’ massively-multiplayer racing role-playing game Need for Speed World will officially peel out on July 20.
The client will be free to download and play up to level 10, at which point you’ll have to start paying if you want to unlock new cars and abilities. For gamers looking to get a head start on the game, you can gain access to the client a week early by preordering the game. You’ll also receive an XP multiplier for the week leading up to the game’s official release, the ability to reserve your driver name and you’ll receive permanent VIP status as part of your profile.
Need for Speed World is certainly a compelling concept, and it will interesting to see what EA Black Box does with it. I’ve been very impressed with Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online, which is a full-fledged browser-based Tiger Woods game. I don’t plan on playing it enough to ever pay for it, but I enjoy jumping in every now and then to play a round or two. If NFSW is similarly well done, I could see it being a big draw for PC-playing racing fans for sure.
Anyone out there participate in the Need for Speed World beta? Impressions?
