THQ announced earlier this year that a sequel to their spectacular Nintendo Wii title de Blob was in the works, but few details have been released since then. Thankfully, Nintendo Power’s July issue will color in some of those desperately empty spaces.
The game will be called de Blob: The Underground and be released for Wii and Nintendo DS next Spring. Blue Tongue will once again handle the Wii version, while Halfbrick develops for the DS. Little else is really known about the game, other than it includes “new moves, new foes, new 2-D platforming,” and “two-player action."
I absolutely loved de Blob. It's one of the best Wii games ever, so I can’t wait to see more about the sequel. Hopefully, THQ will have plenty more to share about the game at E3 in a few weeks.

I've wanted de Blob for so long and finally got it for my birthday just a few days ago. I haven't busted it out yet, but plan to this weekend sometime. :-p
Good to see a sequel was greenlit. Hopefully it's good.

I recently picked up de Blob on the cheap and I've only played through the first world. Aside from the art direction it didn't particularly grab me.
Obviously I haven't played it enough to cast full judgement, but the game doesn't appear to have enough going for it to pull me away from the myriad of great games released in this first half of the year.
That aside, it's always good to see a quality new IP that arguably didn't enjoy enough success be given a sequel.

It's also one of the few Wii games that has split-screen multiplayer mode.

Yay, someone else out there has actually played and enjoyed de Blob! Seriously, to anyone out there who has a Wii, go buy this game, it's one of the most enjoyable platformers out there in this generation.
