There was little doubt Ubisoft would be abandoning the Splinter Cell franchise anytime soon, but it's nice to hear some confirmation. Ubisoft gave Gamasutra access to its newly created Ubisoft Toronto studio, who confirmed it's already working on the next game in the Splinter Cell series.
No details on the next Splinter Cell are available, such as whether it's a continuation of Splinter Cell: Conviction or something new. The ending did leave the option open for more adventures.
Clearly, however, lessons has been learned from the long-in-development Conviction project.
"With so many risks, some are going to pay off and some aren't, and I think that's why we stumbled for a while during the development cycle [on Conviction]," said Conviction producer Alex Parizeau about what's next. "But here in Toronto we have a strong tech platform, a strong platform for the design, and we have a core team in place that we can focus on growing, and on creating a project based on the pillars we put in place creating Splinter Cell: Conviction."
Conviction was also an Xbox 360 exclusive. It's unclear if that'll be the case here.
Where do you want to Splinter Cell to go next?

"hey Fisher, we're making a new game, want to play?!"
"come on out Fisher, we got a new story for you!"
"what's the matter Fisher?! you scared of our new co-op, Fisher?!"

I have greatly enjoyed this series since playing the first Splinter Cell on PC and really liked Splinter Cell:Conviction. I even read the book. I cannot wait to see what the future brings though I would like to see more of Sam's trademark stealth gadgets such as the goggles, gun, ring foil and sticky shockers. An interesting element to throw in would also be open world game play. Oh the different ways you could sneak around with open world. :^D

I'd like to see it come back to it's stealthy ways. But in some sort of new form. Maybe sandbox/ open world? Idk.

god damnit. why cant they just wait a little while so montreal can develop it. handing it off to a new studio is like the treyarch, infinity ward relationship with Cod. and we all know how that turned out

Well...Id prefer it to stay in canada, that series has never really been all that great, neither has Ghost Recon.
