There was little doubt Ubisoft would be abandoning the Splinter Cell franchise anytime soon, but it's nice to hear some confirmation. Ubisoft gave Gamasutra access to its newly created Ubisoft Toronto studio, who confirmed it's already working on the next game in the Splinter Cell series.
No details on the next Splinter Cell are available, such as whether it's a continuation of Splinter Cell: Conviction or something new. The ending did leave the option open for more adventures.
Clearly, however, lessons has been learned from the long-in-development Conviction project.
"With so many risks, some are going to pay off and some aren't, and I think that's why we stumbled for a while during the development cycle [on Conviction]," said Conviction producer Alex Parizeau about what's next. "But here in Toronto we have a strong tech platform, a strong platform for the design, and we have a core team in place that we can focus on growing, and on creating a project based on the pillars we put in place creating Splinter Cell: Conviction."
Conviction was also an Xbox 360 exclusive. It's unclear if that'll be the case here.
Where do you want to Splinter Cell to go next?

the next splinter cell should have more combat abilities. the instant kills was nice but it'd be better if u get a real fight going on. able to do sum hardcore MMA with the A.I. or player. during the fight with ur enemy if sumone comes out guns blazing i wanna be able to push the person im fighting through a wall to not get shot or even able to fight multiple people at the same time

Archer and Kestrel were murdered. Kestrel eliminated by Archer, or Vice-Versa, and then Archer killed by Kobin. Sam Fisher is in his 50's, whats left in his stories besides a prequel? I say, we have a new Splinter Cell, and Sam Fisher having Cameo appearances in the next game.
Also, what if Archer survived the shot by Kobin. That'd be some pissed off Splinter Cell. Personally, I'd like to see Kobin get killed.

im still enjoy conviction, and too be honest is my favorite. I can only play a game for so long and be bored and neither i like when a company milks the cash cow so bad as they are doing with splinter cell.
ManWhoWasNotThere

I want Splinter Cell to keep the flow of Conviction, but also include missions where you're required to hide bodies, and add more fun mini games, like lock picking, sniper shooting (a la CoD Modern Warfare), PLEASE, KEEP KRAV MAGA in the game, but allow us to choose to be lethal or non lethal with well placed shots, and melee attacks that do enough to paralyze enemies.
Stay away from 3rd Ghost Recon, that missions had lame controls. Make the enemies smarter and don't allow them to return to their green state of alert if they notice one dead body--they must not forget that there's a dead body.
Allow us to turn off the monochromatic in-shadow screen. I'm sick of playing Conviction in black-&-white. Allow us to customize the weapons as we see fit a la CoD, with a limit of updates (such as three per weapon a la Conviction).
Give us more environmental kills, and interaction.
Make more memorable characters. Agency people are cold, but go the extra mile to at least give us some background like the french movies Nid de Guepes.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, NEW ENGINE PLEASE. Conviction looks outdated to say the least. And don't showcase the game too early in development. Make sure the game stays fresh with no more than 12mos of gameplay trailer. Co-op campaign was fun, but there's room for improvement.

As long as they keep it away from Ubi Shanghai, I'll be happy. Not that Pandora Tomorrow and Double Agent 360/PS3 were bad games by any stretch of the imagination, they just weren't up to Montreal's standards, IMO. I mean, come on, Dennis Haysbert is cool and all, but he's not Lambert (that really bugged me about PT for some reason).
WARLORDV
i just thought of something what if fisher is out and the co op guys take the main stage and conviction was just setting the stage and to see how people react to the new characters with a new type of gameplay just sayin tho

Clearly, however, lessons "has" been learned
You should write the word "have." Lessons have been learned....subject verb agreement.

"Conviction was also an Xbox 360 exclusive."
Wrong. www.steamgames.com , www.impulsedriven.com , etc.

I think it is safe enough to say that Spies Vs. Mercs was one of my favorite multiplayer experiences on Pandora Tomorrow/Chaos Theory.
I would definitely like to see it return to the series.
Xombie213
Just bring back Spies Vs. Mercs.

I saw ps3 we only have one game for it me and my friend wanted to play conviction but we cant cause its only on the 3 rings of death
tobz1000
I hate to be a logic Nazi, but 'There's little doubt' would mean you're expecting them to abandon it.
samg45
hopefully this new splinter cell will come out for PS3

Hopefully ubisoft doesn't take the call of duty style of development and get one studio to make a splinter cell game every yr but by a different developer don't do it ubisoft

So, are they going to make a proper Splinter Cell game like Chaos Theory this time or it will play more like Uncharted/Call of Duty?
chris0824
that's a tough one i want more splinter cell but i think it would be hard to perfect the story in conviction.
