UFC Undisputed 2010
Xbox 360, PS3, PSP (coming Fall 2010)
ESRB Rating: T
What kind of game is it?
UFC Undisputed 2010 builds on the foundation established by last year's debut title, the first licensed UFC game since 2004's Sudden Impact. Like wrestling games, MMA titles occupy that nebulous space between sports game and fighting game. I'm of the opinion that they're sports games, and people who hate sports games tend to label them as fighting games. We'll all have to agree to disagree.
Who's the Developer?
Yuke's Media Creations, based in Yokohama, Japan. These hard-working folks have been tweaking, building and adjusting the WWE Smackdown! vs. Raw series for a decade and have brought their insight and expertise over to the realm of mixed martial arts.
What's the story?
Word is that Yukes has made some big tweaks to the career mode and create-a-fighter. The story of how you'll work your MMA fighter up the ranks sounds rather in-depth, as you'll have to work the promo angle as much as your opponent's arm. Newcomers should find this installment to be more welcoming than the prior game, which lacked a nuanced tutorial. The presentation appears to have gotten a bit overhaul as well.
Undisputed 2010 will feature online matches between two players in both ranked and unranked matches. In addition, you will be able to play in Online Fight Camps, which allow you and your friends to climb the game's online leaderboards under a brand name.
What'd we say?
We'll be posting our review of UFC Undisputed 2010 soon. Stay tuned for it!
