Valve recently made Portal free to celebrate the launch of Steam on Mac. With more than 1.5 million downloads since the switch was flipped, Valve is quickly introducing their reality-altering shooter to a legion of newcomers before revealing too much about Portal 2. We should know plenty more about Portal 2 at E3, but driveshaft48 is already curious how Valve can possibly top their work on Portal:
"I absolutely loved Portal. However I am curious to see what they'll do with this one. They need to add gameplay elements to change thing up, but seeing as what they've already done, it'll tough to make ones as good as what they already have."

I'm very skeptical of Portal 2 for two reasons; 1) the creative genius behind the first Portal left valve, 2) the only valve game I ever liked was Portal so without the game's creative genius behind I'm just not sure it will be any good.

My big worry is the length. I beat the first Portal in a couple of hours in one sitting, and it seemed like the perfect length for a humorous puzzle game.
Now some rumors are saying Portal 2 could be 10-15 hours, possibly more? I don't know about that. Lots of potential to be really frustrating or really annoying.
On the other hand, it's Valve. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

I'll fix the wording for you:

Admit it. You picked that guy's comment because his name is a LOST reference.

Maybe they will do something with objects changing based on which portal they enter / exit. Or portals on moving platforms.

I think there was room to improve in portal, namely with stuff involving moving portals. Or more complex puzzles involving moving objects through portals. Maybe something like objects that can only go through one type of portal.

lol seems like valve is intent on releasing everything but HLE3.

Co-op has already been confirmed for Portal 2. You and your partner will play as two robots.

If it's infected with Steam I'm not touching it. I ignored the first one for the same reason.

Portal, outside, perhaps a pistol or two, more GLaDOS and I'll be happy.

I want to be able to point a portal in a pool and then at a wall and watch water drain from the pool. that would be awesome.

Since this is supposed to take place in the future, they need to have the climactic battle between Chell and Glados, transport them back in time, to the Borealis, meeting Gordon and Alyx. Maybe throw some Aperture Science history in there. Some strewn about shower curtains with Cave Johnson's signature on it would be a hoot.

Play as Gordan Freeman and it bridges the story between half-life 2 ep2 and 3, plus add some gravity gun action and epic soundtrack!!!

Maybe some kind of device that makes the character weightless.

Agreed. Co-op FTW!

They should make it so that you can modify the portal gun. Say stuff you pick up on your journey through the game can be components needed to make an upgrade.

Co-op, need I say more?

I want to see some different enemies. I would be nice to have some that move around instead of all stationary bots.
